    DC 4/19 travel thread

Are there any Fire fans planning on going to RFK for the 4/19 match?

I would like to team up with others in one place and am willing to help coordinate a ticket buy. I will need at least 18 other people to commit to do this. The cheap seats at the group rate are $13 each.
Be forewarned, this will be DC's home opener so I will need to act quickly to get a good area of stadium.

Reply to thread or email off list at hori_too@yahoo.com.

    Yeah, I'm back.

Kelly and I are planning to make the trip. At least 2. As many as 4 if the folks we stay with want to go.

Jeremy G. spoke with Sachin of La Norte last night and Sachin may be able to help us get set up with tickets as long as we are not near them.
If we are not in corner flag area cheap seats, the next level and good area might be section 101 or 102 opposite SE, clock end, bench side. Those tickets for group rate would be $17, or $20 regular.

Ideas would be welcome on area to sit in. You can find a stadium map w/ ticket prices color coded at http://www.dcunited.com/

There should be one for the KC match too, but given the proximity of one to the other, it's probably best just to have one thread.

KC I'm in, DC I'm probably in (as I was planning on going to the June match but can't because of family conflicts) but we'll see.

Now that the Butler soccer schedule is out, looks like the very start and very end of the season will be tremendously roadtrip-heavy, with almost no trips during the summer.

I'm about 80% sure for the KC trip. Let's start pulling that together.

It's way too far away and there's not much to plan. The only thing I would worry about is plane tickets if your not driving.

I'm driving. Is it really that far away? I guess I'm just wishful thinking. :)

Over a month which is too far for me at least. In a few weeks I'm sure things will get rolling for the trip.

Well, behind the goal is out (120), as that's La Norte's.

Where we sat for MLS Cup 2000 (135-139) is out too, that's too near the SE and Barra Brava.

Maybe split the difference? That 123-124 corner looks really good pricewise.

It's a great trip. It was worth the drive with a friend, car breaking down in the middle of who knows where at 2 in the morning, Cost of tow truck, waiting 8 hours to get the car fixed because of labor day weekend, the cost of repairs, and driving back with little sleep in the past 36 hours last year so I assuming it will be even a better trip this year.

It IS a long way off, but I'll probably be looking for a ride to KC if there is no bus.

And though for the Columbus and KC trips there is little planning needed after doing it a few times before, there is the matter of tickets :)

It's a ways off but it's getting to be about the right time to start planning for the first trips of the year, since they are usually the biggest along with the end-of-season trip.

I'm sure that there will be room for people who don't have a ride once people start to ponder travel plans.

    I'm in for DC.

I'm leaning toward driving at this point, since it should only be about 12 hours to DC, and I might be able to stop at my grand parents house on the way out and back, making it an easy drive.

Probably will get a small rental car to keep mileage down on my personal vehicle (putting 1500 miles on it to DC and back is probably not a good idea at this point, better to spend the 40 bucks to get a rental).

I'm also in for KC on the 26th. Let me know if you need a ride to either location, ASAP.

Our crew (chitowndoll, modernpriacy) is going to be going which should include anywhere from 4 or 5 to 7 or 8 people. I know we don't know how we are going to get down there yet plus we probably plan on staying the night because out friend just moved down to K.C. and not driving back in the same day is a definite bonus. Hopefully the team will want to call us back to the hotel again and we can get more pictures with the "does it even look like i care" glasses. [IMG]

Ah, this year's poster for the "Bob Bradley Asslicking Society"! Blah.

"Does it even look like I care?!?"

    Indeed. ;)

Actually, don't give those glasses to anyone. Everone who's worn them has left the club.

    C'mon...just kidding.

Bringing it back on topic, what's the section we've been getting the last few times in KC?
