BBC say they expect 10 million to tune in to Lionesses v USWNT tonight - which would make it the most viewed TV event of the year so far in the UK— Katie Whyatt (@KatieWhyatt) July 2, 2019
Likely to be a very pro-USA crowd.Just spotted three @England @Lionesses fans in Lyon. Feels like an achievement. Everyone but everyone is American 🇺🇸— Jo Tongue MBE (@tonguetweets) July 2, 2019
Regarding Morgan, here's an example of "rough play" people are using from US/Spain to show how Morgan's being "targeted" by hard, physical defense to explain why Morgan's on the ground so much. Here it is. It happens at the edge of the screen. https://t.co/NJSMAyqoiz— Bea (@WoSoandStuff) July 2, 2019 Unpersuasive as far as I'm concerned.
What's the matter? The England fans can't bring numbers across the channel? They should be burying any other faction in numbers if they bring those who usually follow England at the Euro.
Can people provide live updates on this today? I am on a plane with limited TV access (I am flying an airline known for its poor wi-fi service).
I'm sure this will happen here, but for more biased commentary, you can also check out the the pbp thread on the USWomen's forum, too....at your own risk.
BBC and The Guardian will have live commentary: https://www.bbc.com/sport/live/football/48837148 https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...d-v-usa-womens-world-cup-2019-semi-final-live BBC Radio 5 live already: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_five_live
I don't mind unbiased commentary. I am just happy to see the US playing in a World Cup at this late stage - while defending its title!
Well, frankly it sucks to have the starting GKs from my Fantasy Football team being benched!!! I'll have to hope Van Veneendaal do well tomorrow.
I know all the talk is about the right side (again) of England's attack vs the US left side: Parris/Bronze vs Rapinoe/Dunn, but England's shown life on the left side as well, where Kelly O'Hara always escapes mention when we talk about crucial match-ups (because the strongest attackers in the World Cup, besides the US, have almost all been on the right side) I don't know Karen Carney's play as well as I should and I doubt it's top of Neville's head, but does anyone else wonder if this would be a game for England to play her? More dangerous than Toni Duggan at the moment, less impulsive than the youngster Beth Mead (although I certainly think Neville has a plan for both Mead and Georgia Stanway, even if it's a contingency plan) One advantage that England has in this match, I think,is that Neville has a better idea of what his players can do in this tournament. Not in general, not over the course of their careers, but now. He's used more of his team than Jill Ellis has. Besides the obvious ones of knowing Nikita Parris, Ellen White, Jill Scott, and Lucy Bronze are in excellent form, he knows what he can get from youngsters Beth Mead and Georgia Stanway. At LB he knows what he can get from either Stokes or Greenwood. The main exception, which may haunt England, is he doesn't know what to expect in a big match if he went with someone other than Millie Bright, who I like but has been the more error-prone of the defensive line. And the other exception, I think, is Karen Carney - but maybe Neville knows what we don't.
Daly is starting; does that mean Bronze will be in midfield? And is Press starting with the idea of covering Bronze or pinning her back? Did the two coaches out-tactic each other, or am I overthinking it?
Met an Englander on the way to OL stadium. He said half the people on his plane from London were US fans.
She is. And if Rapinoe is not playing, Brian should be put in to replace her. She is also left-footed.
