(held at the Amsterdam Olympic stadium) S.Korea U23 - Netherlands U23 1-0 Seung-joon Sohn scored the lone goal at the 67th minutes.
I personally did not expect for our lackluster u-23 side to beat Holland on their own turf, at all, I gotta admit... but congrats on a hard-fought win I heard we played pretty well in the second half.
Indeed the our boys played much better in the second half especially after Lee Chun-Soo came in (as much as I hate to admit because I don't like his game / attitude). However, we should keep our optimism in check because it seems that this Dutch team is more like a U-20 team (I'm not sure if they were really the Olympic hopefuls) and further they had trained together for just 2 days according to the Korean color commentary guy.
I think he is playing for the senior squad nowadays. Too bad I didn't have a chance to see him playing but I had the pleasure of seeing Holland's two rising stars, Robben and Van Persie in yesterday's match against Korea's U23 though.
vdVaart is injured. Thus he didn't play in the Netherlands-Argentina A match yesterday or Ajax-Feyenoord this past Sunday either. Check out www.dutchfootball.net for their summary of the game. It refers to the match as an U20, but that is surely wrong. The article quotes Hiddink: "Guus Hiddink watched the whole game and gave a reaction to Dutch media about Korean. ‘They started far too shy, but after the break they showed their class. They really used their speed to overrule the Dutch defense and showed of course the qualify were Korea is known about.'"
