My goodness, an incredible turn of events. This start of the season has NOT been good but im skeptical of how much of this really lays at Rydstroms feet. Courtois albeit has a better roster at his will than Montreal now, maybe he shows he deserves the rest of the year? #Crew96 https://t.co/vjsA4XvatA— Crewrhino (@thecrewrhino) May 17, 2026 It truly is an incredible turn of events when CR doesn't have anything to scoop. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Seems his sources have dried up, go figure ; ) . Just sorry that it had to be at BigSoccer’s expense. For the record, although I didn’t love him, I would’ve given HR a transfer window. This comment from Issa illuminates the true source of the Crew’s issues like a beacon. It’s the epitome of hubris.
Well you can't really say, "Because of two years of constant ********-ups by me, our ambition is to qualify for the play-in game." But as we know, Issa is too arrogant to even privately think that. He's still convinced it's bad luck and poor jobs from everyone else that have conspired against him.
Maybe he truly believes that. But he also knows that Bez is returning, and ownership wouldn't have pursued that goal so fervently if they felt the team's trajectory was acceptable. He might be just saying what's he's been told to say. If he does believe it, then the man is delusional.
Second strong point of.the day for you. If anyone in the organization believed that this was a championship caliber roster, they wouldnt be spending what is surely a good chunk of change to bring back Bez. All that would be necessary is finding the right coach and, boom, Cup celebration. But obviously no one thinks that is whats going on here.
Issa is just positioning the narrative for his next interview. "As I said before, I built a championship-contending roster, but the team was just mismanaged. Let's forget that I was the one that lead the manager search process, though."
Nancy needs to take notes, Henrik showing the proper way to leave a position with grace. Within 24 hours of getting the axe, this was released.
Does Issa have the problem where he wants to be a boss people like, so he makes decisions that he thinks help morale and image? He let a player go for cheap because "it's a nice thing to do and supposedly bring in more players, but had no plan on bringing replacement" It's a debate I don't want to have but now part of a pattern. Signs Gazdag to an extension with no proof he could deliver, and there was no demand by any other team for his services. Overpays an injury prone striker, that shockingly continues to be injured. Knows your hall of famer Nagbe was going to retire, signs another person that should have retired before Nagbe to replace him. Said player has barely any minutes. Extends an aging defense that has been showing holes for 2+ seasons. Hires a coach that looks like he interviewed well, but had no knowledge of north American soccer. I honestly can't think of one good signing, move or decision Issa has made during his time as GM. He has come out twice and said the roster is championship caliber team. His 2 DP signings have been epic failures. His strike 3 was hiring a coach that failed to do anything with the roster Issa "built" He claims to have been heavily involved with the signings like Cucho. Being in the meeting doesn't mean you did anything.
I disagree with Wes being injury prone. His heart stopped and he had an ankle injury last year. Thats about it at the time of signing. Its not like he had recurrent muscle or groin injuries. However, the decision to still sign him and clear his physical while he was still suffering the ankle injury is a bit head scratching.
I was hoping Henrik would have strong conviction on how to play and he quickly seemed to sense his job was on the line and tried to just find ways to win vs playing a system he believed in.
We have dropped 17 points from winning/drawn positions in 14 games, and inly picked up 2. How is that not soft? Short CBs. Poor in the air. Taha & Rossi up top? Or Gomes & Taha in CM? Bangoura plays with an edge. Zawadzki tries but he isn't big enough. Camacho tries but is too old & slow.
I was 100% for giving him a transfer window, but if there seems to be a “culture difference” and rifts already forming, Then I can agree with giving him the axe before any of his players arrive. If he’s not going to be there long term, then bye bye. I think it has been brought up already but he did seem to sell something to the FO/the fans with how he was going to play, which didn’t seem to ever be similar to an “evolution” of Nancyball at all.
Thou shalt give all coaches, even thy worst, one transfer window. -- Proverbs 11:2 Waste not thy transfer windows. -- Proverbs 2:11
This is pretty much where I am. I'm among the slowest of fans when it comes to calling for coaches to be fired. I thought, and still do, that the idea of firing a coach this quickly is madness. It sends a message to anyone else that might consider working here that you have no time to struggle or improve, and you might not want to buy real estate. But the post-mortems coming out seem to indicate that something was rotten in the state of Denmark. This roster isn't great, but we have enough talent that we should be better than we've shown to this point. I thought Rydstrom would get more time because the roster isn't really "finished," but he wasn't really doing much to prove that he could manage things, either. Both things were true.
How is Abou Alli getting hurt for the season "an epic failure" that Tall owns? Abou Alli is still tied for the team lead in goals ... what, a month after he got hurt? He had chemistry with Arfsten and Rossi, pressed. Seemed to appreciate the fanbase. Jesus. Once the piling on starts here, it becomes an out of control avalanche. No doubt Tall needs to be relieved of owning the Crew roster. ASAP. He plays the game, says the right things publicly, stays a loyal soldier ... he will get likely get another MLS shot. Is he even 40 years old? It is now on Bez to convince HSG to replace WAA's spot this summer. THAT is an epic fail on all of them if he isn't replaced.
When Bez signs a DP ... and if the DP gets significantly injured while competing during a game ... (Not to mention not being taken out from the game when first becoming injured) ... Will that be called here "an epic failure" by Bez?
Didn't IW post that Bez recommended Rydstrom and/or Russell Martin? Agree on positioning for next gig. Knowing Bez is returning ... any public statements Tall makes should make him look as in control and executive as possible. Whether factual or not. Those opportunities to do so are likely going away.
No, I believe what IW has had to clarify about 50 times is that Bez was in the loop during the hiring process, was presented with Rydström as the choice, and gave the go ahead.
That noise you hear is me banging my head against the wall ; ) I’m going to replace the name Bez with Jimmy, that way you’ll remember. Isaa Tall picked the candidates for the coaching position. When he had whittled the list down to 2 people, Jimmy was asked his opinion on both of them.
