Yeah, my patience has worn thin. He found something last week and instead of building on it, he went back to what was comfortable for him even though it's proven to not work with these players. That indicates a failure to learn and adapt which is the reddest of red flags. He's got until the World Cup break to prove he belongs here. Eight games that include Revs, Galaxy, Philly twice, and Atlanta. Get 10 points at absolute minimum from those eight or enjoy your flight home to Sweden. I don't want him having any input on player decisions in the next window regardless.
Even with the roster, I would have expected to see some progress, even if not linear. Our two best games were week 1 and last week vs atlanta, who is cheeks. I see no vision, no tactical plan except to play a poorly drilled 442, and not plan on how the press is to work. Weve looked like we are in preseason mode all year.
Losing Wes sucks, gonna be harder to judge Rydstrom now. That being said, it sure would be nice if the team would look coherent and like they all knew what they were trying to do.
Informative and concerning post from a Swedish long term follower of Rydström. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheMassive...=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
This part is interesting and aligns with my biggest concern about HR coming in: As if because the average player on the Crew is better than the average player in Malmo, it would be easier for HR to implement his system? That's awfully naive, for the simple reason that all the players in MLS are better than the average player in Sweden, including the teams we play against who are trying to stop HR from playing his system. Not to mention, it's not '23 or '24 anymore. Even with Abou Ali healthy, this is a middling roster in MLS. Anyway, I appreciate this poster sharing such in-depth opinions. But foundationally, (s)he seems to be missing the point: that MLS is a faster, more technical, more physically demanding league than Sweden's, and HR played and coached his entire career in Sweden. His entire resume and set of accomplishments had never been tested outside of that Swedish bubble. And, thus far, despite his proficiency in English, his skills as a manager have been lost in translation.
Wonder if these players are so used to very complicated positionalism that learning relationism is like an adult trying to learn common core math
See i thought hed know how to teach players in different ways based on his degree. Not um test them. Maybe picard is acing the tests.
We are tied with Montreal in the standings now. Fun fact, Montreal has already fired their coach this season. Just sayin'
I'm not challenging your basic point, which is of course valid, but anyone who takes the Montreal job and doesn't just make a month-to-month deal on a condo is nuts. More to the point, the Clubfeet pounded hell out of the RedBulls last night 4-1. The "At least the new guy isn't that last guy" model is alive and well.
I am hoping we get another 2,000 words from a guy on Reddit from Sweden explaining how low quality MLS is.
I mean, this year a big chunk of MLS does feel that way, but it's still better than the Swedish league.
Reading some of HR's post game comments. What struck was that he spent full paragraphs talking about how we were great in the first half, created chances, defended well, NE didn't create shit and basically got two lucky goals, NE is tricky but they really didn't so anything, everything was great we just got some bad luck blah blah blah... and then ended with this: "They wanted the ball more in the second half. Their players wanted the ball and tried to take us on more than we did with them. In that sense, you can say that they deserved the victory. We need to do that to win more games.” So which is it HR? Did we boss the game and just get unlucky, or did NE decide to start playing and realize they could beat us if they just tried 10% harder?
This guy might be the worst coach we've ever had (with the lone exception of Warzycha maybe) and he's getting a pass from a lot of Crew fans because some circumstances beyond his control aren't going his way. Well boo hoo. This is professional sports. Get lost dude.
He's getting a pass, right now, from me as any transition from a legendary coach is difficult, as I beleive in giving people some time. Also, Matan is coming, so I'm waiting for that.
He was aware of the coaching candidates. We just recently talked about this in some thread, too busy to find it
**The debate about the 2004 Shield has entered the chat.** Then there's the case of Timo Liekowski who didn't even make summer 1996. If Thomas Dooley wasn't an arrogant jerk, I suppose there'd be some discussion about Tom Fitzgerald's place on the podium for worst three.
