When did he sign with the Crew? Did the Crew trade with the Fire to acquire his rights?

When I saw him play at the NCAA Final Four a few years ago I was very impressed. He was as good as Noonan or Garcia or any other player on the field. Could be a nice Developmental Player for the Crew.

I think he and Treager signed last Friday, as they came to terms with a developmental contract. Mack was compleatly released by the Fire and then picked up by the Crew, so I don't think there was any compensation. There might be compensation later, who knows this MLS. If they do get something for Mack, it will most likely be a conditional pick in next years draft. So a fifth or sixth draft pick.

I really like Mack. He was actually high on my draft wish list for the Crew. I'm glad he made it over. IMO, the Crew really picked up a 2nd or 3rd round talent. His ACL injury really pushed him back, but he played on a high level with IU last year and I think he will be a very good LM or LB in MLS. This guy is a two time Hermann Trophy nominee and I think he would have won it over Luchi Gonzalez in 2001 if he didn't tear his ACL. Really good pickup for the Crew.

What's the word on his knee?

The boys at Riverside Sports Med are flat-out the best. Medically, he's in good hands.

Also good for Traeger. He was a long, long, longshot and I for one gave him no chance whatever.

If anybody hears about an A League assignment (I'd assume Pittsburgh or Cinci, right) let me know. I'd make a trip.

This will be the second year back from his ACL injury. I don't know much about ACL injurys, but I heard the second year the strain on the knee either gets better or it gets worse and more painful. So if that is true(?????????) it is a make or break season for Mack.
