I read of rumours (on Ives blog) about Ryan Giggs potentially coming to MLS or the NY Red Bulls in the summer. Anyone hear anything else? If we got him we would be the fastest team in the league, but I still think we need more of a point-man striker a la Brian McBride.

Giggs isn't proper player for Red Bulls. He still could be good for the league.

"Can you shed some light on a certain Ryan Giggs to Red Bull in the summer rumor that has been making some rounds?

You seem to care more about euro players not on the team, then the players who are on the team. Eurosnob?

Echo chamber effect, nothing more. The "Resurrected Garrincha to MLS in the summer" rumor is also "making some rounds," because I just said it here. Someone read someone else's speculation on this or the other board as "rumor" and asked Ives about it. Substance level - zero.

I mean, I could be totally incorrect and there's something going on that we don't know about, but there hasn't been any credible murmur of anything involving Giggs. He could still play virtually anywhere he wanted, and he's not the type of charismatic celebrity figure who's going to draw large crowds on his own over here, so don't get yourself excited please.

I am a regular on the Red Bulls BS board. Where have you been? Regulars on this board know I am the last person to be a eurosnob...
Besides how can you make a sweeping statement based on one post?
    Geez...

These are posts taken off Metrofanatic thread "Metrofanatic at the Bubble"

    Metrofanatic posts: Oh, I forgot!

    One name overheard: Ryan Giggs.

Next post: Wow, I heard that too-- interesting

Later in the thread when Metrofanatic was asked the question to shed some light on the Gigg's thing he said: No. But maybe Ives will.

I see post after post of people caring more about Euro players no on the team than American players already on the team- whats wrong with supporting MLS?

I don't think Giggs would ever come to the US. I would be great if he did however.

So very true. He started there and will end there.

He would fit in with the team well tho, giving great speed and width. Unfortunately there's a better chance I'll play for the Red Bulls this season than Giggs will. ;)

He started at Manchester City. Although he claims (on his website) that he was a United fan all along.

Ummm the posts are talking about MLS. They are talking about what can be done to make the team better. We have one more slot left for a "Beckham" Exception player.

For someone who signed up this week, you sure have a great attitude

haha...ala zidane...i guess that's how all of our rumors start any way...any big time player seen at a Knicks game is supposedly heading to the red bulls...but seriously if this rumor is at all true...i highly doubt we would give up a DP for giggs when we desperately need someone up top...besides..giggs is way to loyal to united

It appears to me that Ives starts half the rumors regarding player signings. I would love to work with this guy he probably has some crazy Monday morning water cooler stories.

He didn't start this. Someone just asked the question in one of his Q&A posts.

Ryan is a great player a tank tbh...for his age not really pron to injury atm he is going to break the record for most games played for United which is held atm by Sir Bobby Charlton...It's like 730...or so games if I'm correct which is amazing for a player...

Giggsy - 701 appearances and counting

He'll get it next year I'm sure.
