Is there anything we can learn France's elections as far as Russia goes? Part of the problem for Russia is that Frances election cycle is significantly shorter than ours. (Less "exposure" to their operations). The media blackout managed to negate their last desperate efforts as well.
This is the baffling part. Maybe Russia weren't really in the can with LePen and just wanted to destabilize the election? Or they wanted to show Merkel a bit of foreshadowing? Or they just had all this info and thought it was silly not to drop it. Or maybe Macron just had better security than Hillary? I hope, but kinda doubt, that France will do an investigation. This should lay to rest any lingering doubts that Trump wasn't aided massively by Russian intelligence.

I don't see anyone using the word "evil". What Russia did is probably not very surprising to anyone that's been paying attention. This is all part of the geopolitical gamesmanship that goes back to even before Putin. And let's not pretend like the US hasn't done much worse to other countries, including Russia. But none of that excuses an American president injecting this stuff into our democratic process for personal gain. That's s new low even by GOP standards.

Well I'll be mother********ed. Comey's last minute statement was caused by what he said in the summer. And he said what he said in the summer based on emails he knew were fake. He apparently believed that he had to pretend they were real because to expose them as fake would reveal sources and methods. WIth a healthy, healthy assist from a bunch of cowards in the media, the FBI, and the GOP, there's no question now that the Russians hacked our election.
Bump The next elected president should offer Gorsuch his old seat if he resigns from the Supreme Court. If he doesn't take the deal, that person should expand the Court by two seats, and nominate Garland for one seat. For the other seat, nominate the youngest, most liberal person they can find.
There is not a constitutionally set number of seats on the Supreme Court. It was originally set at six seats by statute, has had as many as 10 seats, and was set at the current nine seats in 1869. FDR tried to increase the size of the court up to as many 15 seats, but Congress balked.
