Sounds like Alex Lifeson got a bit rowdy on New Year's Eve. http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/02/rush.arrest.ap/index.html
County Deputy: "Calm down, sir, or you'll be asked to leave the premises." Zivojinovich: "Whoa! Easy, man. I'm famous." County Deputy: "Is that right?" Zivojinovich: "Yeah, I'm the guitar player in Rush." County Deputy: "Rush?" Zivojinovich: "Yeah, that's right." County Deputy: "I see ... Delroy, fetch me that stun gun!"
Poor guy arrested for spitting blood at an officer. Where did the blood come from? Oh, his broken nose. --- How anyone can't appreciate Rush is beyond me. Best song: 2112 Another great song: Resist 3rd: Trees 4th: Circumstances 5th: Closer to the Heart 6th: Limelight 7th: Spirit of Radio.. actually a few others are better, but maybe you've heard the last two.
No other choice in the matter IMHO.. This piece of music is absolutely brilliant.. "The sleep is still in my eyes, the dream is still in my head"..
I'd say it's a toss-up between 2112 and Moving Pictures as their best album, although I personally prefer Moving Pictures. Hold Your Fire is vastly underappreciated.
Moving Pictures is quite good, but you have to look at Hemispheres as well. At U of New Orleans in the 80's, we were studying the Greek classics, and some long-haired guy brought the tape to class and we were listening to the album, and our 60-something professor was bobbing his head as if he was listening to Benny Goodman... good times...good times.
"Completely foul" Rush fans strike back: http://www.nj.com/newsflash/entertainment/index.ssf?/base/entertainment-2/107399844053780.xml
"Freddy Cole, the 71-year-old younger brother of the late Nat King Cole, was playing the $650-a-couple, black-tie event when a man in a white suit jumped onto the stage and grabbed the microphone." Something about Freddy Cole struck me as funny.
