YES!!!!!! So...who's next on the Green Card Hit Parade to free up International Slots for these guys?
Franco Fragapane spent 2020 on loan from Talleres at Fortaleza (🇧🇷). He scored in Talleres’ match v Independiente last weekend. While he’s formerly of Boca Juniors, Fragapane didn’t overlap with #MNUFC’s Emanuel Reynoso or Ramón Abíla. Still plenty of shared footballing DNA.— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) April 7, 2021
And don’t forget this about yesterday’s Wanchope signing: #MNUFC technical director Mark Watson said there’s two more signings of attacking players in the pipeline. Expect one to be a DP. https://t.co/f8N7EK2tFN— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) April 8, 2021 The club has targeted two other attacking players to play alongside Reynoso and now Abila, maybe even in time for the season opener depending on negotiations, COVID-19 quarantines and work visas. One of those two likely will get a "designated player" tag and salary for a Loons team that came within a minute of reaching the MLS Cup championship game last season. ------- Fragapane is a TAM player. Would Hunou be a DP?
So...going back to Green Cards... Subtracting Chacon and adding Abila, looks like we have eight internationals on the roster: Abila Billingsley Dibassy Gregus Lod Metanire Raitala Reynoso Is eight the limit still? If we're going to sign both Frangapane and Hunou, it means two more international slots. Likely Green Card candidates from that list? Billingsley? Gregus?
Reports: LA Galaxy signing winger Kevin Cabral from Valenciennes in Ligue 2 on 5-year Designated Player deal, per @kbaxter11. Transfer fee is $5.9 million, per L’Equipe.Local angle: Adrian Heath told #MNUFC podcast that "we were very close to signing (him) earlier in the year."— Andy Greder (@andygreder) April 8, 2021
He probably should be - don't know to who, but DSC is the first choice unless he's called up for qualifiers. Tyler sits.
Official...to Phoenix Notes: #MNUFC 2020 draft pick Noah Billingsley will go on a season-long loan to #USL's Phoenix Rising, Adrian Heath confirmed. #Loons trialists Ariel Jackson has made a good impression and club will try to keep him on roster for 2021, but Rashawn Dally has left the group.— Andy Greder (@andygreder) April 9, 2021
For instance: NEW: #InterMiamiCF has contacted several MLS clubs as they hope to find a trade partner for Matías Pellegrini, sources tell @samstejskal +me. Miami must be roster compliant by April 16.Details, plus 6 clubs that could make sense for the Argentine winger. https://t.co/NKtBSgFHHl— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) April 9, 2021
#MNUFC pic.twitter.com/YOuRTrqt4u— Andrew (@andlovg) April 12, 2021 I do agree with the FO/Heath on Kev. Having said that, hope this isn't how Kev's season goes.
Listened to that yesterday. I think we are. If we do in fact get Hunou and Frangapane, I don't see why we shouldn't be competing for the Western Championship again. We have kept adding to our depth, especially in the attack this off season, which is a big plus in my book. This should help us in the summer when Gregus, Lod and Raitalla are gone. If Reynoso does go down (knock on wood), we will be more predictable, but should still be scoring goals......right? I guess the thing we just don't know, is hoe the injury situation will be in say, October. This core has been together a bit and there is no reason why they can't match up really well against the LAFC's and Portland's of the conference. Dangit, I don't like it when I am optimistic.
News: #MNUFC should be able announce the addition of Franco Fragapane as soon as next week. The 27-year-old winger from Talleres in Argentina's Primera Division would bolster the #Loons attacking corps just as the #MLS season begins to ramps up.— Andy Greder (@andygreder) April 14, 2021
“Fragapane will stay in Talleres despite Minnesota’s request” The plot thickens. 🤔 https://t.co/2vXN2jgfaf— Minnesota's Eleven (@sotaseleven) April 15, 2021
