oh my god, please no! that would be certainly one of the poorest decisions the club could ever make. since his name continues to come up on the boards i can only hope that the speculation is false. does anyone know more?

Was this supposed to be a reply to another thread?

Maybe we should have a thread devoted to discussing United players (and those players who might be coming to united) that various posters hate. Like this guy and Dante Washington. sormun could post on Bobby Convey, other posters can chime in about why Tino bites, Etch sucks, and Petke blows. Haikus could be written about the terrible play of Ivan the Terrible, epics on what a waste it would be to pick Alecko Escandarian, ballads (slow ones to be sure) about Elisio Quintinilla's footspeed and size (with side passages to Chino Alegria no doubt). We could even seque to comment on Ray Hudson's turns of speech.

    We should sticky the thread.

    What's wrong with Dante?

A big, strong, fast forward who can body up with the most physical defenders is a valuable commodity.

If you don't want him, fine. We'll happily keep him.

    There. Feel better now?

    Wait a sec.

Dante is exactly the kind of big bruiser up front that we have lacked. I'd love to have him on the team.

Ali Curtis might just grow exponentially under Dante's tutelage.

He'd also be great for the PR side, as he's a local guy that is willing to build support in the local community. And he's 100 percent a class act.

Personally, though, I'm beginning to doubt this move would happen, much as I'd like it to.

Columbus bought time cap-wise by loaning McBride out. If Hejduk signs (and they get him), it's even worse. they will need to move someone for McBride, more with Hejduk.

I think a whole bunch of us would be happy with Dante on the roster.

    Thoughts of a newbie

First let me say that it is my pleasure to find and join such an august body of soccer and DCU fanatics. I have been reading your posts for several days and decided I had to join.

In response to Ursula's comment about a thread to dis players -- I've noticed that some of you are very passionate (although not as whacked as Hate Arsenal) about the players you dislike. I have one comment -- they are and have always been better than you. But what's a sport without someone to really dislike. Personally count me the Albright camp when it comes to disliking a player. I also really hated the ball bouncing off of Rocket Roy all the time even though its random direction did find the back of the net at a rate high enough to make me think that he occasionally actual meant for the ball to go in that direction.

What does SoS mean? I know it refers to the Metros. Speaking of them, based on reading some of their poster's comments my wife knows more about this great sport than their fans!! And for those who dis DCU for sucking for 3 years, remember even the Yankees missed the WS for 11 years from '64 to '75 and another 12 from mid 80's to '95. History will show DCU in the MLS Cup on par with the Bronx Bombers.

Will this season be known as the MLS season shaped by DC United? We do sort of control the destiny of several clubs with our allocations and draft choices.

Always nice to hear from the Vicar.

If we have to limit our search to within MLS for a striker then Dante Washington is fine with me. But we don't.

    no need for Dante

I agree. With DC in control for the Earnie, Joe-Max and Frankie allocations, we have the option of brining in one, maybe two, players more talented than Dante.

I'm not bagging on him, I'm just saying that we have the option of getting better players.
