    Plane ticket to Chicago...$ 175
Breakfast at Lou Mitchell's...$ 19, with tip (and milk duds).
    Cab to Soldier Field...$ 15

Reminding Liverpool how close they came to playing in the Bundesliga....priceless.

I'm assuming Graham Taylor was replaced as manager by then.

terry venables was in charge for that game.
    Shearer bagged both goals.

  8. The Titanic?

    So do ours.

How about this deal. Next time there is a war in Europe, we mind our own business for a change and the loser has to keep France.

Now was it true before Euro 96, Shearer was considered not a flop, but a forward who had yet to meet expectations at the national team level?

SGE: "It is a very good opportunity for me to be with the players for a week and to take a closer look at some of the newer members of the squad in a different environment, both on and off the pitch."

B-Team (Well ok, still some pretty damn good talent, but I'll expect Downing, SWP, Ledley King types).

Don't hold your breath - there's more chance of aliens landing at half-time and putting on a dance medley than there is of England playing at anywhere close to 100%

Apparently, her husband used to play soccer.

BTW, does this mean that in a year they'll have a kid named Oaklawn? I would like that.

Shearer was the entire difference that game. The two sides played virtually level until Alan took charge. It was solely his initiative in making Alexis Lalas look like a fool that pulled that one out for England.

I'm certain that had Shearer not suited up that day, it would've been a 0-0 draw.

I'm as rabid a US fan as they come but Shearer looked like a man playing among boys (both sides) that day.

Shearer was that kind of take charge player in those days. And he was not a flop in Euro '96. He'd hit a rough patch prior to the tournament but he was great and I damn near won a tidy pile betting on England that year because I knew Shearer would eventually come through. And he did.

The CL Final is on the 25th of May so there's a possibility of Chelsea players Lampard, Terry, Cole and Johnson missing the match.

So does that mean after all your talk, you'll finally back it up with action and be there?
