I hope this rumor is true! Please bring the USA men national team to Philadelphia! We now have a stadium for soccer and the women's national team have played twice already! We are ready for the men!
Re: Rumor of USA vs England at Philly Change the name of the thread to either take away Philly, or add NYC/NJ to it..... just wanna make things fare.....
Re: Rumor of USA vs England at Philly England v. USA would be incredible. I hope the rumor is true as well. Well worth the road trip from Michigan!!
Re: Rumor of USA vs England at Philly Done. And to make it fair for other east-coasters not in Philly, too.
I love the stadium in Philly. Really enjoyed the WWC there. However, the field is too narrow for the men. IMHO
Re: Rumor of USA vs England at Philly Wow. I was joking. But actually glad you took it seriously. Thanx!
Re: Rumor of USA vs England at Philly No worries. And for the record, the rumor's been an off-and-on matter for so long now, this game could be taking place anywhere, it seems.
there will be no game in philly over memorial day weekend. NCAA lacrosse is booked for the whole weekend. http://www.lincolnfinancialfield.co...il.jsp?id=21514
Sure, since it is just a rumor, why not add Hartford, Newark, Baltimore, Richmond, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale and Miami as well?
At first this sounded cool but then I realized that England shows about as much effort in friendlies as I expend singing "Happy Birthday" to strangers in restaurants. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Did I say Zippy yet? The game would be boring. The inevitable explosion of idiotic posts on BigSoccer would crash those "upgraded" servers Huss added. I'd rather the USMNT meet England in WC06 in the knockout rounds when both teams would play with max effort. That would be well worth the hassle on here.
If England were to lose a friendly to Lithuania, or the USA, which game would the UK media decry worse?
Who cares? Seriously. They go nuts when a spice girl puts out another marketing tool...ahem, baby. Lets say we crush England in a friendly. It'll prove nothing. Ok, lets say its another tight 0-0 typical boring England friendly. Again that will mean nothing. If the US get crushed then it'll mean...nothing. Sorry but I'm not feeling it. I'd rather we play meaningful games like the Copa America. But no we can't be bothered to fit that into our schedule, so why worry about a meaningless friendly? If we are scheduling friendlies, I'd rather have ones that prepare us for WCQ games. Not waste our time playing a name.
While the game may mean nothting to the teams themselves...... the media in NY would go gaga over an event like this. IMO Especially if Beckham finally makes his first playing appearance in the colonies.
See, that's the problem. The media would go nuts over this. Then the game happens and it's a boring 0-0 draw. Then all of the sports media is on another feeding frenzy of "oh, we told you it's a boring sport... blah, blah, blah". Unless it's a meaningful game then from media perspective it's a no win proposition.
In my country there is a problem That problem is NYR Metros Throw NYR Metros down the well So my country can be free
So, the colonies bit rubbed ya the wrong way ehh? Good thing you understand tounge-in-cheek writing or otherwise you might give me negative rep.
