Posted on Bergin's site, but not by Bergin...

"New England after a english 1st division defender..."

The guy posting it is Matt Reaser if that means anything to anyone.

The rumor about the Revs interest in a player currently plying his trade in England's Football Championship (1st Division) comes via a poster (none that I'm familiair with) ... just like anyone on these boards, that happened to include it in part of a post on USSocceruk's discussion boards. Clarification for a source has been requested, but not yet provided.

Suffice it to say there are things going on behind the scenes down in Foxboro.

Can you clarify which first division this is?

Last I checked, England had three of them...Are we talking about the first first division, the second first division, or the third first division?

Tony Adams has all of the qualities needed to be a Rev's defender.

Played in the First division, is British and is old ! :p

Wow... the Revs are looking at a defender in one particular league. Can't confirm that they're even doing that though, but don't worry they are doing something. That's some good hotstove talk right there. Here's a headline for ya. "Revs Not Doing Nothing"

The Revs looking is interesting. The Revs actually accomplishing a significant signing well before the season starts (and having the person show up), now that would be something!!

    Where's the beef?

The Revos are looking for a defender?

    WOW!

Stop the presses. Break into ER for a news bulletin.

This is the most exciting news since, well, 'Nicol left his house to pick up a gallon of milk' or 'the stadium bull crew sweeps out the stands after a match.'

Without anything more specific, this just isn't a plate of potatoes without meat, it is a plate without any meat or potatoes or anything else on it.

I wasn't serious, hence the ";)" But he's an upgrade over Franch-eonard in most ways, just not an important one- playing like you mean it for 90. Come to think of it, that would kind of make him fit in with the revs we saw this year. A central defender would be a better get now anyway, though.

O.k., so the only rumors we have (at least those that can be fessed-up to on these boards) are:

    * Krafts possibly part of consortium looking to make bid for takeover of Liverpool...

    * Revs may be looking at unidentified defender in the English League Championship (Division One)...

    That's pretty slim pickin's really.

That may be changing. Heard a rumor today that the Revs may be close to, if not having already agreed to a trade within the league. No word on names of players or clubs, but I'll see what more I might be able to track down.

Please don't let it be Pope (maximum salary, injury history, lots of missed games to WCQs) for Twellman (younger, cheaper, better)!

The good news is that most of the time the things you hear about are not the ones that actually come true...

I doubt anything like that would ever happen. Some on the Board may feel otherwise but I trust the judgement of SN et al. When he has space and time to work out things (not in mid season in a crisis) he seems to make very good choices.

If anyone is going I'm betting it's Franchino.
