Revs have signed JMM after trading Serna and picks for an allocation. Someone please tell me we didn't have any part of this deal. http://www.ussocceruk.com/modules.p...pic&t=1639&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=225
Whoa! That's pretty big news. I'd love to see Joe-Max back in the MLS, and it only seems fitting that he should play for the Revs again. As for the deal, I know a lot of people here hate Serna (your's truly included) but there's no denying that he played well for Ray at the Fusion. I could see Ray trying to bring him here, but I'm not sure exactly how he would see him fitting in. I think we're pretty much ok in the forward department.
Could not see Metros wanting Serna back so it would be either us or Colorado. Rapids make much more sense than us but who knows. Serna would be tough to root for but you cannot argue with the guys numbers over his career. If he is coming here, I hope they gave him a good physical.
We couldn't be a part of this deal - we have no allocation left if you assume the Bulgarian is a done deal.
Bergin has a thread with current rumors, gossip, news, etc... http://www.ussocceruk.com/modules.p...pic&t=1639&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=225
I was thinking because the MLS wants JMM in NE, that we would get Ivanov as a discovery and be "encouraged" to trade our remaining allocation to NE
This would make sense, since Metros have an allocation and have been after Vaca. So a tree-way could be: Allocation to Dallas from Metros, and then Allocation to NE from Dallas for Serna. Exciting. I'm sure I can't get any work done today.
While Ray has said one thing and done another before, I REALLY don't think he'd take back Serna after the many times he said the guy was a headache and a half. K
You can add this to the build up: http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?level_3_id=137&page=6341103 - Take Clark with #2 - Have 2 first round picks in 2004 (although b/c of the number of early outs it will likely be a weaker draft, but then again, first round picks are trade bait, and with Olsen and Etcheverry probably leaving . . .) - Allows Q2 to concentrate, and battle, for the #3 forward spot. - If needed, use the #5, #11, or #14 to p/u another forward - allows Q2 to concentrate on left wing, allowing Convey to push into the middle.
The good ones usually are - all that necessary ego. Also, Bergin reports the Bulgarian officially signed with the league a day or two ago and is heading to DC
The article actaully quotes Bradley saying he would be willing to talk about this deal with DC. If so, United needs to jump on it before he comes down off of whatever he's using. I would rather have Clark anyway and the 1st pick next year is a big bonus.
Since next season United will have the #10 pick in the first round and the Mutts the #1 pick that might work.
Span ahead two month's..........................Unable to come to contract terms with first round pick Freedy Adu DC United waives him.
But first First things first...let's try finishing in the top eight and make the playoffs before finishing first overall. DCU looks good on paper but the game is played on the field.
CNN/SI fueling the #5 for Stoichkov rumors... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/us/news/2003/01/16/us_glance/ Please God, don't let it be true.
Stoichkov for the #5 straight up is a horrible deal. And how bad would forward-rich Dallas be getting reamed if they had to acquire an allocation to get Serna (a player no one seems to want anyway)? But as an MLS-run club I suppose it would all be "for the good of the league". Oh, unless you're a Burn fan of course.
