That's interesting news no doubt, wonder if Donovan's return played a role.

Anybody wonder if there's a clause in there about a possible move to Europe after the 2006 WC?

    Fixed the thread title.

    Resign/re-sign is a pet-peeve of mine too.

Isn't it safe to assume this deal was reached when MLS chose not to sell EJ to Benfica? EJ would have made big money there, so MLS has to give him somthing to justify not selling him.

True, I think that MLS wants to keep him for the 07' season, back from the World Cup.

Which then provides MLS with something to market

Do you have an example of where confusion might exist?

Not it was reached this week or so.

FCD and MLS started talking to EJ about a new deal sometime shortly after the end of last season.

So the story is wrong (says a deal was reached last summer, but never announced)? That story really seemed to fit to me when you consider the Benfica offer.

That is the info I am getting here in Dallas, the same info said the number may not have been right either.

Not to say of course that the Post is not right or reliable. But the info i am getting is different.

I do know that his cap number for this year is the 80K number. And if his deal would have happened when the Benfica offer came... then would his cap/deal not be in place for 2005? I had a direct quote from GE that talks were going on, and they have been waiting to hear the outcome/number.
