How about changing the rules so that when the ref blows the whistle (for a foul, in touch, whatever), only the team that is going to have possession can touch the ball? Isn't it a little ridiculous that if someone from Team A is fouled, and the ref calls it, someone from Team B can pick up the ball, and run in away from the spot carrying it? (and then tossing it way up in the air, allowing the rest of Team B to get back on defense)? Is there some "beautiful" aspect of soccer that I'm missing here?
If that happens the player who carries the ball away usually gets a warning. If he or the team continues to do it they wil get a card. If he carries the ball away a doesn't give it back for about 10 second he wil usually get a card immediately.
If a player kicks the ball away after it's been placed down it's always a yellow. Carrying the ball a few steps before tossing it in the direction of the player to throw it in is ok in my book. I have no problem with how refs call these.
