Ruiz or Cardozo Jose Saturnino Cardozo is the total package. He has proven himself in all levels of the game. The only thing Ruiz has going for him is that he had a good sesason with the Galaxy. Lets wait and see if el Pescadito can prove his worth outside of MLS.
This is very true, Ruiz's success is not unprecendented, nor is a quick fall from the perch in the following season.
Re: Ruiz or Cardozo If the question is who would you rather have for right now.. Well, perhaps for the short term Cardozo would be the surer choice to perform.. It's not an easy choice though, as Ruiz showed again and again that he will come through when it's needed and will put his chances away at a very high rate. I really don't like the remark stating wait to see if Ruiz can prove his worth outside of MLS.. MLS teams have shown very well that they are at least a match for the MFL and will likely leave that league in the dust in a few years.. Doing rather well againts them for a very new league. Teams made up of mostly MLS players have been making the Mexican Nats look rather weak in the last few meetings with the exception of the one match in Mexico City, and that was not a very convincing win as the US wins over Mexico have been lately.. I feel some fear coming from a lot of posters who may be fans of MFL and the rest that in a few years that if soccer should really take off in the US and the infrastructure for player development should really get into place in the richest country in the world, the US will never look back and make international and club competition around the globe a contest for who can be 2nd best.. i saw the game chivas vs toluca. They marked Cardozo pretty good the first half, but in the second half chivas had a 3 goal lead and started to sit back. then Cardozo got going and was unstoppable.
Cardozo is unstoppable in all aspects. Obviosuly he can finish. His passing and creating is just nothing but spectacular. His flick-ons and back heels are just perfect.

So, Can i say that Cruz Azul is one of the best teams in the world based on the scores on a friendly tournament like Teresa Herrera Cup? No. Then we have the TCF, with that gay format of all teams playing on the same City (a US City), where Mexican B teams had lost games not only against MLS teams, but also against Central American and Caribbean teams. Now, on the first reasonable format for that competition, WITH HOME AND AWAY GAMES, the final game was played between 2 Mexican sides. Today Pachuca (a deception on this year, one of the last places of the mexican league) is the CHAMPION of CONCACAF. Also, we have The Merconorte Cup, where no MLS teams played the second round. HOME AND AWAY GAMES.
The MFL is stronger than MLS right now without a doubt. However the top few MLS teams will play the top few MFL teams well year in and year out. This year in the cup we had teams like DCU and KC representing MLS which was just silly as neither were top 4 MLS teams from the previous year and they both finished in the bottom 3 in MLS this year. San Jose and Chicago also played and were representative of top MLS status but San Jose really melted. Of course Chicago didn't do well in MLS this year either so what does that show? I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a strong performance next year by MLS teams. The galaxy won the tournament last year and have the potential to win it again next year. Neither Columbus nor San Jose will be imposing next year, but both will be better than DC or KC this year. The MFL is very good though and has some very high quality teams. MFL should expect to have the top 2 teams in the region year in and year out. The fact that MLS has taken a couple of the championships should encourage them to try to lure a few of MLS's lesser stars to Mexico. They would do well to add a Bocanegra or Jason Kreis who might rather take a pay raise in Mexico rather than risk Europe.
any mls fan that watches the mfl and has seen Cardozo knows he is the man. He is unstoppable. Ruiz is great, and should be even better next year.

Guzman didnt stay very long with the Clash. Hermosillo was decent. If you look at his stats you cant say he failed. Luis on the Other hand is a diffrent story. He was supposed to be the player that the Fish is with the Gals. Not to make excuses but the fact that Luis had no preseason or even vacations for that matter, playing With Club America, then the Galaxy, and the Mexican National Team really burned him out. Give Ruiz three more seasons and see what happens, but until then there's more important things to respond to like RDL's 'favorite botanas to eat during games' thread. I'm going to say all in all Luis' stats for any MLS forward are decent not great. It all went down the craphole people expected him to have the work effiency of the three players he replaced. Plus it didn't help he was a little bitch when it came to parking space, showing up on time, MLS promtional work and talking chit on being shun by the team cliques. It all comes down to being a first rate prick, he would have left a mildy bitter taste in everyone's mouth and not the one of 7 day old crusty prison ass in actuality had he not acted like that. Have you guys seen a promo for PPV where they show LUis's old form against Argentina from just 3 years ago? What a huge drop.
cardozo is injured right now and still scores Ruiz turn out to be a real fluke in MLS, like mamadou Diallo and diego serna or the Honduran than run the scores up in Maimi (now in galaxy's bench) : Pineda chacon!

Rather, 2 local Mexican referees call the game. By the end, Morelia had won 6-0, while Kansas City got slapped with a pair of red cards, a penalty kick against, and by all Wizards' acounts, some ****************** "home-town" referees who, for all intents and purposes, threw the game to Morelia. The second leg was at Arrowhead. A very pissed off Kansas City Wizards downed Morelia 2-1. Such a series can hardly judge the overall quality of MLS, or even rightly compare it to the Mexican league. Also, the MercaNorte Cup means next to nothing to MLS teams who can't make any revenue on home legs in which only 5K show up. In 8 years of existence, MLS teams have won 2 Champions Cups. Impressive. Yet, the tournament is a joke and poorly run by the CONCACAF. MLS and MFL teams alike get screwed outside of their respective nations. The MLS can compete with anybody in the region. Yet, the MFL is a longtime and highly established league whereas the MLS is young and improving. Kind of like Cardozo v Ruiz. Finally, the US National Team's recent successes against their neighbors to the South is, at the least, attributed to the existence of MLS. Without MLS, the Tri-colores would still run the score up against the Yanks like it was the late 80s. MLS has become a proving ground for US players, which has translated to National Team success. MLS squads can and will continue to compete with MFL. Oh, I'd take Ruiz.

Next time you should do your research first before you attempt to clarify a series. It was in the MercoNorte against Santos that they Refs did not show up.
In all fairness, by the match report, I find it difficult to contend that this series makes a good arguement for MFL's superiority to MLS. This series is a poor example to use. According to the first leg (the latter article) match report, two key Wizards, Vermes and Gutierrez, stayed home due to injury. Two players were subbed early due to injury. The Costa Rican ref's calls are said to be questionable. But, the best part is that KC's newly acquired Russian striker Igor Simutenkov was not allowed to enter the country because Morelia didn't file the Visa paperwork. And yet, I have admitted to MFL superiority, so I'm not sure what this arguement is revolving around. I say MLS can compete.
