As if you needed another reason to hate Ruiz ...

The little fish is a deadbeat dad.

Looks like his failure to support his kids is going to keep him from playing for Guatamala (sp?) today.

I wonder how/if it will impact his up coming season.

Fish's Ex: you haven't paid me any child support since I moved out 2 months ago. I'm taking you to court.
Fish: I've agreed to give a percentage of what I bring in. I haven't played a game since the Open Cup final and haven't recieved a penny since you left. Now you've blocked me from leaving the country so I can't earn any money.

BTW, they've reached a settlement and Fish is flying to Panama this afternoon.

PZ, Unlike the A-League where many of the players play indoors in the winter, MLS players get paid year round, regardless of whether it is in-season. Ruiz has been receiving regular pay checks, twice a month like everyone else. He makes about $150,000, so that would go a long way in Guatemala.

    I'm sure it was easy.

Unfortunately it's much less evocative of my sentiments. :p

Whats wrong with despising the little fish anyway? He's an arrogent, dirty player and anyway he did score a certain game winning goal that us Rev fans won't be able to forget anytime soon. :(

    Pescadito back in the water...

Ruiz captained Guatemala tonight against SS's Costa Rica in the UNCAF Nations Cup.

He played well. Crew's Freddy Garcia also had a nice outing for Guatemala.

There's a marginally useful game summary at Concacaf.com:

Guatemala will next be playing Panama in the Copa de Naciones. Carlos will be there, along with Freddie Garcia of the Columbus Crew. It's on Galavision at 7PM ET Sunday 2/16.

    Ruiz & F. Garcia

Not such a good performance yesterday for Pescadito against Panama. Other than a few scuffles, he was a non-factor.

Better than usual game summary in English here:

Ricardo Mayorga quote of the day: "For the love of God, give the ball to Freddy Garcia!"
