turf IS bad, no denying it... but i'm really hoping that this is a short-term setback (HS stadium with turf) for long-term MLS stability (Burn stadium).
Sweet, merciful crap We're gonna have 70x110 indoor soccer again. I was hoping that we were done with that CRAP once Giants Stadium converted over to the real stuff. This is a step back for MLS.
The one thing I don't get about the article is that they say the Burn is trying to get a stadium built in the same suburb that just got a minor league baseball team. So I'm going to assume they built a stadium of sorts for that, and now they expect them to turn about and build another one for the Burn? Is this supposed to be like the Easton of that area? If not, I doubt they'll just be throwing the money out for that new SSS. Any wagers on who will get a SSS next (after LA, of course)? I don't think the metros are ever going to get things straight, so my money is on an expansion team.
I think another article said the field can be expanded to 72yds wide which is only 3yrds more narrow than the Cotton bowl and about the same as Anfield. If you don't like this your not going to like hearing that Giants Stadium is going to use FieldTurf this season as well. The Rangers and Stars owner mainly built the stadium there. I am not sure how much the city contributed to the complex. The baseball stadium cost 22 million. Frisco also approved a community improvement budget of 197 billion last year to build schools, cultural centers, parks, etc. The new Burn stadium would be constructed using a portion of this fund
