What did you all think of #14 Rudi Corrales...when he wasn't lying on his back??? From what I heard, Ben Olsen said he was hoping DCU noticed him.
Yeah, the El Salvadorian 23 year old is very technical and impressed me. But frankly, I didn't know anything about him until today. I went out on a limb and told a friend that if Houston wins an expansion team for 2004, that I bet that MLS would sign this guy for them. It's utter speculation on my part, but the guy is good and young. These are the type of talents that MLS should be considering IMHO. That said, I'm not sure if he'd really fit in here. We already have an abundance of young smallish technical midfielders. We need players that are clinical finishers, and at least one or two that are also strong in the air (offensively). We also need strong 2-way Dmid/Hmid types. I don't think this guy plays that role either. But he definitely has talent. -Tron
size would be my main problem with him also. he technically isn't better than convey and not as athletic as convey, olsen or mapp.
He looked good. He certainly isn't taller than the sign, so would fit in with DC United's midget scheme. Watcing El Salvador, I realized that they had one of the problems DC had all season. When the other team is taller than you (which every team in MLS seems to be taller than DC United's attackers), and you serve balls in the air, you should expect to not get much progress or success out of that.
He played all of the first two games, then came on late yesterday (after the US had already qualified) and did well.
