After our crushing loss at the hands of the Cheyenne Mountain Boys (I guess their Technology Destroying Drones were more than a match for our Replicators), the Great RSL travels to Vancouver, Canada to play the Vancouver Canucks, oops, Whitecaps. WTH?!?!? Didn't we just beat these bozos a couple of weeks ago?!?!? Yet again, RSL gets screwed by the monkeys with a dart board in MLS scheduling. No matter. Onward and upward to victory for RSL. Since the last line up for Vancouver didn't win them any points, they decided to revamp the entire team to more closely match the population demographics of Vancouver and Canada in general. Here is the line-up: ------------------------------Gord McCanuck------------------------------------ ---Esa Canuck-kanen--------Steve Canuck-chuk-----Timo Canuck-qvist-----Ole Canuck-sson----- ---Maurice "Rocket" Canuck----Mark Canuck-vich----Francois Canuque---Sergei Canuck-ov---- ------------------------------Wayne Canuck-sky------------------Guy LaCanuck--------------------- Who knew there were so many "canucks" who lived in Canada......
Actually they got rid of their french speaking players (all of them) and brought in Scots. I think this will be very tough game & Robson, Miller & Mattocks will probably be up for the challenge.
Really? Isn't there some Canadian law that says a certain percentage of players have to be Quebecois? Well, so instead of Guy LaCanuck, Maurice "Rocket" Canuck and Francois Canuque, we have Robert the Canuck, Gerard Canuck-ler and Sean Canuck-ery.
We're going to lose this one ugly the only thing I hope we can do is get some shots on goal and maybe even put one in the net. I have a bad feeling we're going to go 270+ minutes without a goal, though
even when we lose we'll be in 2nd in the west so be prepared for the "it's really not that bad, see SEE!!!" though, if results go a certain way, we could fall to 4th overall after we lose
Depends on the result. If RSL loses, chances are I will be more positive than you. If RSL wins, chances are I will be more negative than you.
Here's the sad thing, I believe RSL they can win but won't. I think Jason Kreis has run into a wall with this team and does not know how to correct course. He will continue to play Steele, he will continue to try to force the possession through the middle of the pitch, and will not let some of the younger talent on his team to see the pitch. This team needs some swagger, it needs some creativity, same old shit is not working anymore.
I would really like to see a new formation for this game (maybe a 4-3-3, i dunno...). Vancouver has RSL had weeks of rest and time to practice and focus on what went wrong last time they played us. need a fresh look to change things up and confuse Vancouver, maybe steal an early goal and hold on. Since they will be without Cannon in goal, I say RSL attacks the young keeper to keep him nervous. Also: anyone else really like that Mattocks guy from vancouver? I wonder what it would take for RSL to pick him up?
It's a bit early to really get excited, but when I watch the kid I feel like I'm watching Robbie Findley with a decent touch. It's glorious. The kid could really be something
Robbie Findley? When I watch Mattocks I see a Jeff Cunningham type attitude of a player. Not interested.
really? the kid doesn't seem to have an ego to me. At least not one that is destructive and a cancer to the locker room like Jeff's was/is it still makes me sad that the enchilada goal doesn't include the 20+ passes that proceeded it oh, and did anybody think we would miss Andy as bad as we have this year?
I think a attitude like Maddock's has is exactly what our team needs, RSL lacks swagger, we need a player or coach who can light the fire under this teams ass.
Ah yes, the glory days of Enchilada. That was literally his 15 seconds of fame here. I agree on Andy. But I also think Gil has the potential to perform the same way Andy did. If only there were a way to get Gil some playing time... Anyone know of a guy who could "detain" Steele so he misses the team bus? (I know, I know. This isn't Italy.)
Games on turf really remind us of how badly we miss mr 77 legend. That dude was the best turf player I've ever watched. When our midfield can't seem to keep the ball within 5 feet of themselves on their first touch tomorrow night, just think of Andy and his silky touch.
Very concerned about this game. Have the feeling RSL will be under siege most of the game, with a decent chance of getting boat raced. Really, really, really, really hope I'm wrong. Maybe Espy or Sabo will score on a random breakaway and RSL will manage the game a la @SSFC. I'm going to be watching the midfield closely this match. If they look energetic, close down VWFC in the midfield, and move to open space when RSL is in possession, RSL will make it a game, and maybe, just maybe, put boot to ass.
Last week I was feeling pessimistic and didn't think our slumping was over. But like Napoleon Dynamite at the lotto counter, I'm feeling pretty positive today. Vancouver used to be part of the UK, same as SNL's Simon. I expect...a goal-rich 2-2 'drawring'.
I think the road defense has been good enough lately to keep RSL from getting boat raced, but I do think this will be a loss. Likely 2-0.
