Anything but Lions. This aint a rec league team (almost, some would say). I suggested Saltlakticos, but I will have to defer to Jellacticos, much more creative.

Be creative, try thinking out side the box. How about the "Salts" Veruca?

    Are you serious?

No you can't actually be serious.

Maybe I'm not in the right place, I was looking for a thread where RSL fans talked about names for their team, not where CRapids fans came up with names for RSL.

Seriously, the Jellacticos? Saltlakticos? The Salts?

"Jellacticos" is the best possible nickname for RSL.

It gets my vote hands down.

Yeah, green jello. With grapefruit slices mixed in. That's the ticket.

Grapefruit slices? Come on, it's gotta be carrot shavings (for reasons I don't know).

Green Jello with carrot shavings: now that's the pride of Utah!!!;)

My sainted mother always made it with grapefruit slices, ergo, anything else is blasphemy.

It's our team and we can nickname it anything we want.

And, since we suck (EmbraTSu!) we can pick a name that isn't particularly grand or magnificent, if we want. :p

    Jellacticos is the perfect name.

    - It implies that we're trying to be like Los Galacticos of Real Madrid.
    - It references Jello, reminding everyone that this is Utah and we're, well, a peculiar people.

I prefer SaltLakticos because it is easyto say and outside of Utah nobody understands the Jello reference.

Hell I have lived here a good portion of my life and had to have the "jello" thing explained to me last year.

Yeah, but now people will have to inquire to find out what's with the name. Could be a great opportunity to explain some of the peculiarities of our culture - call it a "missionary opportunity" if you want. :)

I thought the whole "Jello" thing was secret not sacred and therefore we weren't allowed to discuss it with outsiders. :D

What about just the Gelatins? We don't have to promote Jello brand exclusively do we? Although Bill Cosby is quite charismatic.:D

Gelatin is a processed version of a structural protein called collagen that is found in many animals, as well as humans. Collagen actually makes up almost a third of all the protein in the human body. It is a big, fibrous molecule that makes skin, bones, and tendons both strong and somewhat elastic. As you get older, your body makes less collagen, and individual collagen fibers become crosslinked with each other. You might experience this as stiff joints (from less flexible tendons) or wrinkles (from loss of skin elasticity).

Mmmmm....tasty. More jello please! [IMG]

Listen, Lions was a suggestion based on the mascot that you already have.

If you hate it, that's fine.

My question, on a serious, non-gelatin based level, is what nickname might be adopted by the fans of RSL. You know one that might actually be used by fans, press, etc.

You know something like a headline "Lions roar in home win" or something like that (again, you hate Lions I get it, it's just a suggestion).

No respectable newspaper is going to use any jello/gelatin based name & SaltLakticos is just as confusing to non-soccer fans as RSL.

Any thoughts on that or should I just unsubscribe as you come up with more and more ridiculous names based on Jello, Gelatin and other absurd non-usable names?
