On Nov. 9th approximately 20 members of Real Salt Lake’s first official supporter’s club, the Loyalists, met with Trey Fitz-Gerald, the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for RSL. He discussed upcoming events and decisions about the team and answered Loyalists’ questions for about 45 minutes. Here is a summary of what he discussed. For the complete article, please go to www.TheLoyalists.com where the article will be available soon. Most of the staff is filled in, according to Fitz-Gerald, but the front office is still waiting for some people to decide whether or not to accept jobs and waiting for others to move in and get settled. The final office staff for the first year should be around 24 people. This is somewhat slim for an MLS team, but Fitz-Gerald stated that the team will also have some resources from Dave Checketts’ SportsWest television group as well. He described the staff as “world class,” reiterating the accomplishments and history of GM Steve Pastorino and head coach John Ellinger. Of local interest is the addition of Chad Sackett to the RSL staff. Chad Sackett was the goalkeeper for the former Utah Blitzz, and will be working with youth clubs and season ticket sales.
