http://rapidshare.com/files/29925874/RSL-NY_hdnet.wmv.html MLSnet's highlights suck, so I put this together. Thanks to Brian26 for capping and uploading the game.
Wow! Scaryice, that was awesome! Your highlights really show all of RSL’s defensive lapses on all of NY’s goals. Forko on the first, Stewart on the second, and Torres on the third. The highlight on Brownie’s goal is great. Much appreciated!...
Thanks...ScaryIce... Arelius, I take issue a bit on your characterizations of the defensive breakdowns. Wee Willy did an admirable job trying to track a ridiculously fast outside mid on an diagonal run all the way to far post...and, even then, he got himself into position to contest the shot. The player who screwed the pooch on that goal was Seitz...who neither attacked the ball with conviction (an option) nor stood his ground anticipating that the Wee one would contest the shot. Instead he was in no-mans land and gave himself no opportunity to stop the flick (it wasn't even a shot). On the second goal, you have completely ignored the main cause, Ballouchi. He gave up a ball at the worst possible time in the worst possible way. I'm guessing that you wanted Stewart, who was probably providing wide support for Ballouchi when the turnover occurred, to get back in time to keep Mathis, who absolutely burned to get into the final third, from exploiting the space that was beautifully created by Josey's diagonal run, despite that fact Stewart, who is not even of average speed, had way more real estate to traverse. For all those people who rag on Reyna, with the exception of the Ghana game where he cleated himself and gave up the ball, he rarely turns the ball over dangerously. Ballouchi MUST be held accountable for putting the D in such a horrible position. I have no idea why Torres was so late recognizing that Mathis was cutting near post (so I agree with 1 of 3 )...
