Does this tournament have the same time wasting rules that MLS just implemented?

Caliskan's signing must mean we're for sure moving on from Jazzy, whose position is now listed as d-mid. And Jazzy could have been reactivated in mid-July.

Glad’s had a rough night judging the over-the-top balls. He’s missed several headers.

Thought I saw that he was listed as available for this tournament?

This is rather pathetic. Very disappointed in this club. Not much faith that they'll perform in the playoffs.
The nine remaining games are very favorable (even if the schedule itself isn't great), so we'll have to see if they can stay top 4 or not.
I don't think Kurt and Co did enough to strengthen the roster in this window to keep up with the best. I'll keep my expectations low and maybe I'll be happier with the results.

I agree. Seems a lot like last year. We’ve struggled since Chicho’s injury. It may be an outlier of games since Chicho was gone for most of it, but it doesn’t seem like the team can perform without him. Hopefully the next couple weeks off helps the team reset and gear up for the last stretch of the season.

Sloppy from RSL. Houston knows Gomez isn’t going to pass the ball, all they had to do was stick 2 defenders on him and it stops RSLs attack just like that.

Wrong. Many teams have been sticking 2 defenders on Gómez for months.

Teams that shut down the ability of our team to play through our double pivot have destroyed us. They’ve found if they can frustrate our ability to pass to them, we have no dynamism. It’s just up the right wing to Gómez or hoof it over top for Julio.

I’m not too disappointed in the loss, however I wish we had been sharper. At most I wanted only one more match for RSL in this tournament anyway.

I don't know. Lost at the first opportunity in Open Cup. Lost the Rocky Mtn Cup. Flamed out in Leagues Cup. Not keeping up in the Shield Race.
None of that points to being able to compete for MLS Cup.

I haven’t harbored dreams of that. We’re better than in previous seasons. We’re fun to watch most of the time. At our earlier season best, with lucky bounces, etc… I can see us maybe getting to the West finals. That’s the ceiling though, imo. In congruence with your post, we aren’t at our best right now. Something has happened to the chemistry. We’ve lost one of our better talents. In the last couple games Gomez has appeared to be auditioning for another club. If lose him and/or Luna it won’t get better.

I hate to say but I think that bombing out of the Leagues Cup might have been the best thing for RSL right now. It would be nice if they could start winning cups or at least competing more consistently for things like the Supporter Shield, US Open Cup, Leagues Cup and the FA cup. Why not?

But, with all that has gone on the last month or so, having a couple weeks to reset and focus on a nice little 9 game run to end the season might be just what the doctor ordered.

There are new players to evaluate and integrate into the system, there's that Chicho guy to get back to golden boot form, there's players maybe heading out before the next RSL game on August 24th so having a couple weeks to get the new guys acclimated and the team realigned with whomever is still at the club come that Saturday, might be rather advantageous.

I think that with the way this team has chosen to play this season, and how the entire team has bought into the system, with the right players you could make a deep run. We will see if the new players brought into the team so far this transfer window, will have an impact. If they are plug and play for a Gomez or a Luna that have moved on, or maybe even addition by subtraction, then for sure the WC final is not out of the question.

If the team can't find it's early season bearings and mojo then I will be sorely disappointed and surprised.

Really, really, curious to see if a DP is brought in or if a couple players get shipped out. Of the two I think that Gomez is the more likely candidate to have a suitor but I doubt anyone is coughing up $15 million for him. Luna has had a very good season but seems to have disappeared a bit. I'm starting to grudgingly believe that Crooks and Luna might not be able to coexist. Maybe Crooks heads back across the pond? Who knows?

I can't imagine the next couple weeks not being interesting.

You really think we're going to hear much? The organization doesn't tell us anything of note.
Luna and Gomez won't be leaving this season unless there's a massive overpay. If there's a deal, it'll be one that let's them finish the season here.
I'm not getting my hopes up for a top 4 finish in the West.

If this team doesn’t finish top 4 of the west the season is a failure. I think that’s the floor. The top spot in the west is all of 5 points (maybe 6 is lafc wins their game in hand) away. This isn’t a euro league, that’s a very surmountable lead.

I agree current form is poor, it’s also worth pointing out rsl played 4 of 5 on the road against playoff teams. Thats not an easy feat for anyone. The one home game was against a liga mx team. What recent form showed was this team isn’t elite elite. That doesn’t mean it isn’t good

6 of the last 9 games are at home. If they don't finish in the top 4 I would 100% agree that this season would be a bust.

At least HOU was bounced in the round of 32.
