Does RSL not have any promotions planned for this year? I was looking forward to getting another collection of player cards for this year's squad.

They have limited the number of promotions to bring us two top notch international matches, rumor has it this was also what was behind the dropping of season ticket holder t-shirts. I for one like the cute stuff but would much rather have an August International against an EPL club than a set of player cards or a t-shirt.

I'm still amazed at how crazy people go for a ball or a bucket of chicken. Now Mehdi Ballouchy's jersey, that's worth diving over three rows to try to get.

Do we know who the friendlies are yet? If they have to hall in grass they better have plans in advance.

The sod farm transportation guy is a close friend and he said that they need about three week's advance notice. From a previous thread, one named was going to be Chivas Guadalajra and the one that the Plaza Amador ticket is for is the Chinese National Team.

You stole that idea from Dan Loney. But that's OK, I'm going to Plagiarize him for "We all cheer for basic human rights."

Is the Bouncy House retired or did it just sit out the RBNY game due to the weather?

Loney stole it from RCB. We've been talking about it for as long as we've known China is on the schedule, which is like a couple of months.

I am sorry but I dont see the Chinese National Team as a "power" international game. The Chivas game will be huge among Utah's latino population. Easy sell out. But the other sounds like a bore.

Chivas (the team from south of the border) would be an incredible event. They might be rolling back the advertising tarps on the west stands for that match!

I agree on both points. China will be fun because there is an almost unlimited supply of things we can sing about. The Chivas match is supposed to be a double header, but I haven't heard other names yet.

Does anyone else remember what happened during the 2002 olympics? The Chinese were upset because some family living in the apartments close to the medals plaza was displaying a Taiwan flag outside their window because they had a grandson serving a mission there. Chinese officials requested that the flag be removed because they do not recognize Taiwan as a country. But here in the USA we believe in the 1st amendment! Of course, you could only bring flags to the actual events if that country was participating in the Olympic games. After having my "Carroon is a Buffoon" poster confiscated last year, it wouldn't surprise me if RES obliged with a request to remove Tibet flags. I think I'll buy one anyway just to piss of the Chinese!

If everyone shows up with one, good luck confiscating all of them. This match is going to be extremely fun. I just need to figure out where I can hide a flag in my kilt.

In lieu of a Tibetan flag, you could just wear a RBNY jersey.

As for the gameday promotions, I'd rather have a few good exhibition games than a free shirt. But it doesn't really make a season ticket holder feel valued if they spend $1700 on four premium season tickets and only get one lame-ass license plate frame.

A few weeks back, two dudes were running an obstacle course to get at one of those lame t-shirts that get rocketed into the crowd. The t-shirt was a 'Join the Army' recruiting t-shirt. I wonder if he even bothered to carry that piece of crap out to the car with him.

I know the match against the Chinese national team is coming up, we all have to remember that international friendlies often hinge on relationships between the staffs (coaching and office) of teams and so I would not count chickens or goats before they hatch but I have to admit the large amount of red, white and green gear in the FO has me worried. I hate goats.

Remember that we also have an international friendly scheduled for August 11th and I know that there are several teams we are talking with about that but I have been asked (and will respect) not to share that info just yet. I will say this if any of the teams I have heard named come true, it will beat the hell out of a t-shirt or set of player cards they could offer.
