I took the survey, let them know I'm not buying seats at $200/ea, and said that if they raise prices, they'd better be increasing the investment in the on-field product at the same rate, or I'm going to be priced out. Edit: there were a few questions that hinted they might consider enclosing the roof to protect against sun/rain, but I figured those were just meant to string regular fans along. If the league goes winter schedule (I refuse to call it "international"), more sheltered seats will make a difference.
I also let them know how much fanatics suck and how much the team store has gone down in quality since the turnover. Pisses me off to just go in there and look at the utter lack of options.
I responded that I would cancel my tickets for a winter schedule. A mid season game in February sounds so so so stupid
Didn’t we play Columbus in late February/early March during one of our first times playing in CCL? I remember that game being so cold. A fall/spring schedule is such a dumb idea.
We did. I should have italicized part of my post about mid season. It’s one thing to play a truly competitive, important game in that weather. It’s a whole other to be regular season game 20 of 34
Before the game in Columbus, the ground was so cold and frozen, they were clearing snow with a plow on a pickup truck. The Crew posted a video of it on their website. It must have been hell to play on. Edit: I couldn't find the video, but this was a good summary of the conditions on both legs https://www.columbuscrew.com/news/rio-tinto-field-conditions-not-ideal-ccl-2nd-leg It's funny to read players saying this like this while the league is contemplating playing multiple games for multiple weeks every season through conditions like this.
And that was November! If the league wants to play Nov-Mar, it will require lots of expensive stadium upgrades to make the play watchable, protect players, and make fans comfortable enough to stand out there for 2 hours.
