This is great. I'll tell you who stands out to me: Javi. Second-highest completed percentage, while attempting more than twice as many crosses than the next higher player (Beltran). That's just amazing. I would assume that a successful cross is one where the player received the ball and kept possession. My question: what constitutes a cross, exactly? Does the ball have to go a certain distance? Be in the air? Move from the side to the middle of the field?
To be honest I can't answer either question above. Opta is the one that is making those determination.
that data is for all of 2013? If so, we don't cross the ball much (which isn't surprising). And Javi's bloated numbers could easily be all his set pieces.
The data is for the whole 2013 regular season. I didn't include playoffs or Open Cup. You bring up a good point on the set pieces.

The latest Crunching the Numbers with some pretty impressive early season numbers for Plata and Mulholland. http://ccb1212.blogspot.com/2014/03/crunching-numbers-san-jose.html
The goal stats on Mulholland are insane. I know it's only two games, but its going to be pretty hard to argue benching him when the team has yet to score without him on the field. Also really glad to see Plata is improving on his finishing. It's something he really struggled with last year.
I was one of the biggest people against the signing of Plata. I'll give him credit that over the course of last year he steadily improved and found a good place in the team. He's been lights out so far this season, and I only hope it continues. In theory it should help Sabo as well, because before Plata was a nuisance, but not always dangerous. Now he's a player that teams will have to actively keep track of, and that should help free up Sabo, or any other player getting around the box.
RSL has given up 54 shots in the first two matches. Should we be worried? http://ccb1212.blogspot.com/2014/03/rsl-round-table-shooting-gallery.html
