Thanks to RSLSOAPBOX for the scenario breakdown! http://www.rslsoapbox.com/2011/4/4/...rtivo-saprissa-champions-league-semifinal-2nd
What if its 0-0 at the end of regulation, then 1-1 at the end of overtime. Do RSL still advance on the away goal rule?
I think you meant if it is say 2-0 so therefore the aggregate being 2-2. Goes to extra time and then it ends being 3-1 so therefore the aggregate after the extra time is 3-3 with RSL having an away goal then do we advance because that goal. That is a very good question. In that case we should move on I believe.
It is my understanding that away goals in overtime do not count as an "away goal". If it is 2-0 going into overtime, and then 3-3 at the end of overtime, it would then go to PK's.
Here is a prediction for you all, I see Espindola getting a goal tonight and it will be similar to his last goal against Saprissa, Flat our aggressive play will lead to his match winning away goal.
You would be right. Just so it is clear for everyone: Away-Goals do not count in overtime. Just ask the Puerto Rico Islanders (2008-09 CCL semis: 2-0 in PR, 0-2 @ Cruz Azul, 1-1 @ CA in overtime --> 3-3 series, Cruz Azul won on penalties)
If you're confused about the scoring rules, just consult the NYTimes RSL article. In their meta knowledge about everything they have that shit down...
Via Twitter (though I just signed up and don't know how to link anything) RSL Lineup - Rimando, Russell, Borchers, Olave, Wingert; Beckerman, Williams, Johnson, Morales; Saborio, Espindola Saprissa lineup: Bolivar, Cordero, Centeno, Wong, Phillip, Arrieta, Guzman, Martinez, Duarte, Cordero, Alonso
It's a club competition. And from the shit they're stirring on Twitter, clearly the Crapids fans don't live by that philosophy.
Wow...so Saprissa's giving the kid the start over the more-experienced Alejandro Sequeira. Then again, Cordero did score the golazo in Honduras to salt away Saprissa's quarterfinal series.
If they had an option between us winning, and then them curbstomping us vs. us losing and any result against us, I think they would rather the 1st. Just like some people here wanted LAG to win against Philly, just so that it would inflate our win.
I am one of those who think club before country, but that's me. That and I really don't like the USMNT. The only one on the team I even partially like, at least the A team, is Deuce. I want to cheer for them, but I have a really hard time doing that the way the team runs, especially under Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley
Anyone know of an online feed? I'm dying to watch this match but don't have FSC at the moment. Thanks
http://www.concacaftv.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Home/0,,12907,00.html You'll need to create an account (it's quick, easy and free). They usually have a decent feed.
CONCACAF TV works great, and it is free. The english commentator generally doesn't know how to pronounce the names.
No - Alejandro is Douglas's brother, and A. Sequeira plays at forward. He scored Saprissa's first goal against Marathon in the group stage. My guess is that since he sucks with the names in Spanish, he decided to be egalitarian and butcher them all.
