Uh… anyone else see that Glad is one of our DPs? https://mlssoccer.app.box.com/s/8rlpwuftshm29fhixg9w08q834j491wp
It's an accounting move. He will be listed as a DP for the first half of the season to maximize available GAM. He will remain a TAM-able player should RSL want to add another DP in the Summer.
Yea, he gives RSL a B- and then lays out why heads should have rolled. Crazy. I did give RSL a B- in my postseason grade so great minds or blind squirrel? Squirrel.
I mean, we made money on the guy from NYRB, it's too soon on Marczuk and $1m on the Aussies isn't that huge. We don't know about Cruz, but he had to go back to Bulgaria because they didn't get paid when he was sold to Botafogo. On the surface it's worse than it looks. The number of misses is more concerning than the money squandered (which is mainly on Goncalves at this point).
What? He was ineffective enough on Saturday last week that BOOM? even old Forster Ajago got several games last year before his loan.
I have googled and don't see anything mentioned. I'm not certain what is going on. Hopefully it is a loan to a USL team? Or overseas? Don't know.
The way players go from the next big thing to see you later around here seems kind of quick sometimes. Diego Luna was given a ton of chances, well deserved, but the USL defender of the year, Lambert, gets half a game or so and is loaned out for two seasons. It's rather interesting at times.
Barea is good, but I don't think he'd play much for RSL. I'd rather see guys like that get minutes, even if it's at a lower level than MLS.
I’d be curious to know who thinks Barea is mls level. He’s had chances. I haven’t seen anything. The game is always too fast for him that said, it’s just piss poor club etiquette that this is how fans find out
You of all people should know that development isn't linear. I'm not saying he'll be an MLS player, but a guy that is a year out from being drafted still has time to show that he can play at the MLS level. See Caliskan...
Fair point I just haven’t seen even a glimmer or spark of mls level quality from him. I consistently see a guy chasing the game. Happy to be proven wrong. I do get annoyed when a guy that performs like that somehow gets minutes over an academy product (hezerkani last year) or a guy signed for specific situations to help the team (Russel last year)
Figured I would put this here. Ari Piol suffered a brutal Achilles injury tonight in the 2nd half. Dude was crying hard. Just when he got his goal and things seemed to be looking good for his career, he’s potentially done for the year. Hopefully he can recover quickly and get back on track.
Very brutal. Hopefully he recovers quickly. On the bright side, not for him anyway, maybe it opens up some time for a young player to get some minutes. I like Piol but if his touch was better we might not notice that his vision is lacking. Gozo did what Piol could have done in the last couple games and got his head up and made the simple pass for the tap in
So, Matt Doyle is buying what RSL is selling a bit more: +10 spots is by far the biggest move in his rankings. But even at #14, we are still #9 in the West in his ranking. The bottom 5 in the East are quite dismal. SKC is the only team in the West lumped in with them.
And ESPN has us jumping from 23 to 12 https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/48081796/mls-power-ranking-inter-miami-surge-comeback-win
Ariath Piol's Achilles rupture confirmed. He's done, likely, for the year. https://www.rotowire.com/soccer/headlines/ariath-piol-injury-dealing-with-achilles-rupture-503770
Have we ever traded a player's homegrown priority before? https://www.rsl.com/news/real-salt-lake-trades-utah-native-will-mackay-s-homegrown-priority
Chance Cowell is a homegrown. He didn't come through the RSL academy, did he? Mason Stajduhar and Tyler Wolff are also listed as homegrowns.
Cowell was acquired the same way Mackay was traded away. I still don't understand how you can trade for a player and keep them as a HG, that's one of wilder rules, IMO.
