If you want to be stoked about the signing, DONT look up articles about the transfer and proceed to hit translate. If you do the please avoid reading the comments section from fans of Brondby. It wasnt good. Also,.it.feels like Blitzer is dumping his trash to RSL per usual. Is he still involved?
Really good breakdown, So to realistically compete for anything this season we probably need to upgrade 4-5 starters in the next 4 weeks? I did some digging and it seems the requirement in MLS now is that you have a player that can get you 20+ Goals and Assists to have a shot. This last year every conference finals team had at least one. The last time RSL had a 20+ player, (Chicho 23 and Gomes 20 both got there) they finished top 3 in the west. The time before that made a conference final (Dami 24, Albert close at 18). I worry with the summer transfer window change, they will be even more tempted to hold off on the DP’s that could get you that 20+ until late August/early September, essentially after the season is done and dusted.
Without departures, what 4-5 players are you moving to the bench? I can see a CB, but I'm a little hesitant to move Marczuk to the bench and leaving Yedlin at CB leaves the back 3 really small. The other attacking player next to Luna is the obvious DP spot. If you are getting a stud forward, sure bring one in, but I think you have to move Olatunji, that's too expensive for a backup. I think you have to maintain DP flexibility for when Luna leaves, too. There are about 19 league games plus Leagues Cup after the WC break. With the extended window this year, you can get guys in and realistically still have a chance to get them to gel and move up the table.
My guess is that we might see at least 1 DP signing to start the season and at least 1 CB, maybe 2 on the wish list for RSL. They will have 2 new DP's this season as you know they have to be looking for somewhere for Diogo to land. I think they like Olatunji and probably looking to find a DP player to play off of him. Someone that can cover a bit of ground and make slashing runs. Connect with the midfield and all that. They did say one of the expected new signings was headed to Portugal but the others will probably head to Utah to train until the team gets back into town. We shall see.
If the Will Ferry stuff is misinfo I'm happy. lol. I am a bit of noob, I tend to believe people when they tell me stuff. Which can be both good and really bad.
I am seeing the new transfer window will close after most of the leagues cup with just 12 games left in MLS. So probably 10 games for anyone signed late in the window? So looking at last year with at 15th in goals conceded per match and 26th in goals scored, I am hoping the Engel addition can get me slightly higher on defense, but I’m nearly cleaning house in the attack. If I am in charge of the team and I am trying to win a trophy I am trying to upgrade the following: Marczuk (inconsistent in quite a lot of MLS minutes now unfortunately) Ruiz (most wildly overvalued contract on the team) Luna (not going to get to 20+ G/A it seems after 4 seasons, No real track record of making players around him better as “the guy) Booth (unproven, but highly doubt that he will be a 10g player in MLS this season) Gozo (not close yet to top 50 MLS attacker which you need in either his or Booth’s spot) I would replace with DP 8, 10, and winger and add U-22 winger/wingbacks. Got to have the 3/3 roster construction model) I am hoping maybe foolishly that Olatunji can get 10 non-pk goals. The two new DP’s need to get a combined 40 goal contributions. That should get you in the top half of the league in Goals per match.
This implies that you are quite bullish on the current roster... I think we could upgrade at every position and we probably do need to upgrade at 4-5 to be a title contender.
No, just more realistic of what the Club can/will do in one window. I want to see some youth develop and get minutes, not get buried behind average vets (don't like this Brondby player). I was quoting the 4-5 new players Kevin said he would like to replace. I'm ok with the idea of RSL being one of the best development clubs in the league (if they want to go that route, looking unlikely) and I think they'll have a very hard time truly contending for trophies no matter what. I think they'll end up not really picking a lane and be relatively mid.
https://www.transfermarkt.us/morgan-guilavogui/profil/spieler/691786 Top 5 League Player that Pablo mentioned? The rumor on Twitter says Lens may have found an exit route for him, he's been back with them for 6 months. Not a great intro, but could be a good fit next to Luna.
Bogert is saying Guilavogi would be signed as a DP. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/69...guilavogui-attack/?source=user_shared_article
Happy we’re continuing the over promise under deliver then gaslight any promises were said approach still I was worried we might try something new my money is on him not joining the team in Europe nor being able to get with them on their return to the US until the week of the first game in the season. I’ve seen this movie. The narrative of not having a pre season is writing itself Im also confused with the clubs apparent infatuation with European players. I’m not opposed to it, but it’s strange we ignore central and South America so much. From a culture, playing style, and geographic/weather perspective it’s less of a shift for most central and South American players
Maybe it’s been difficult to recruit central and South American players because they don’t want to get ripped out of their cars and get their shit kicked in
huh, interesting. I can’t help compare it to Andres Dreyer as they are the same age and Dreyer was also a $5M fee when he came to SD from Anderlecht: Previous 2 seasons before MLS transfer: Dreyer- 23 Goals, 16 Assists in 56 starts Guialavogui- 10 G, 4 Assists in 24 starts Hopefully some magic happens and he turns into a Dreyer but I am definitely surprised that the fee is that high. But love that they are spending! Hopefully he is great. Skeptical based on past stats and lack of being a consistent starter.
So we heard we'd have 3-5 players announced on Spence's show, none were announced but we have two rumors, one of which is pretty solid?
Was Trey on the show,? I usually listen the day after. Solans was a draft pick from last year and he has a contract but no work permit yet. There are 1-2 guys that were draft picks this year or last year that are with the team right now but no contract of any kind. We know that the Dutch guy and this guy from Guinea are happening per Bogert. We can probably expect another CB as I don't think they want Yedlin starting there.
