Check out the homeless situation in the country of Jordan. Consider that the population of Jordan is way higher than the population of Utah. They have all but eradicated homelessness country wide. Super cool stuff. Basically they put a 2% luxury tax on standing wealth that goes directly to helping out the homeless and keeping them off the streets. That plus Ramadan is a 40 day country wide fast where those who participate donate their missed meals to helping out the less fortunate in their population. It can be done.
The wealthy dont want to pay the tax. If their wealth is reinvested in another business then they avoid paying the tax. It makes them highly industrious. If they have lavish wealth then they just dont mind writing really big checks because it is bleeding out anyways.
Zimmerman reportedly close to signing for Toronto FC (not a DP contract). So that rumor isn't going to pan out for RSL. Which I am fine with.
Just wanted to say this interview is what got me to sign up here on Big Soccer… for better or worse haha so anyways, hi!
So the footy headlines leak came out and I thought they might not have the claret vs cobalt ratio quite right, so here is my take based on the same info:
No kidding. I signed up in 2007 to see if anyone knew how I could get some prescriptions from Kenny Duechar, and I've never found my way out again.
I laughed out loud on this one. Dr. Goals sighting!?!?! Gotta love it. Who was the best RSL player that never did anything worthwhile? Dr Goals leads the list.
I joined in 2008 after going to Brewvies for a watch party and hearing a guy shout, "Which one of you is here from BigSoccer? I knew none of them would show up." (or something along those lines). That was my introduction to Prolific and the rest is history.
But this is a false dichotomy. Billionaires essentially have infinite resources. She can donate $10M to homeless services and drop $10M on a DP acquisition.
It was a silly attempt at a joke, which Inthen clarified with my juxtaposition with DLH and his coins. They could be worse, is all I’m saying.
Nimo! That’s a hell of a deep cut right there. The things we used to get hyped up for back in the day…. Still taller than Joao Plata!
So when I was in the doldrums of this season, I put together a list that maybe some of you will like messing around with too. It is a breakdown of all the attackers in RSL history that played significant minutes by a the metrics that I think matter the most. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1FmYgWY-9B-HYb4kAuHie1qCQepntOMBdCYzCvx6RfJI/htmlview
That's pretty depressing. We're not going to see production like Chicho's again for a long time. Too bad he turned out to be a piece of shit or whatever.
So just to add insult to injury for all of us: so by 2025 numbers our best attacker, the face of the franchise, and the player the team is built around according to Schmidt, is basically Corey Baird. Haha Here me out: Luna and Baird are right next to each other in G+A per 90 at 18th and 19th respectively leading the bottom half of RSL attackers. Since Luna entered the league, he and Baird have the nearly the exact same goal contributions in that time. Baird 39, Luna 38 (Although Baird doubles Luna when it comes to playoff goal contributions) They both won Rookie of the Year/Young Player of the Year. No team in their right mind would advertise with a picture of Baird and Messi together with “Witness Greatness” written under it haha Perception is everything in this sport.
College draft is Thursday. RSL has 2 First Round picks, 6 total and 5 in the first 48. Will they make a big trade like they did last year? There's still talent to be found. https://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft/news/mls-superdraft-2026-tracker-order-selections
