Yes, would make for a very expensive pairing. He's not deserving of a DP spot at this point. I don't know how I feel about a 5'5" CF in Rony, either.
Nashville dropped him because he wasn’t worth the DP. With Glad getting $1.5M, I think it will be hard for our FO to get him to play here for less than that.
The comments in that Facebook thread fill me with dread. But that’s what Facebook normally does, so I dunno.
Zimmerman would be an upgrade to Vera imho. Rony feels like another striker by committee addition. Is he a difference maker in the MLS? I hope.
I looked up Rony and what I saw was a series of articles about how Palmiera fans are excited for him to be gone. I looked up his highlight videos and the 2nd or 3rd video was all about his easy misses calling him the worst player ever. The other video I watched was full of highlights bit half of them were easy misses and shots directly at the keeper or flops. He isnt moving the needle for me based on the smoke around him.
Also, his team wants $6.5 million to release him. The silver lining? Maybe we are willing to spend some money this offseason? Just hoping we get it right.
Walker Zimmerman is probably worth close to $1M/yr for 2yrs + option. Rony sounds like a terrible fit. Unless he is Giovinco 9 years ago, I’m not interested.
I'm hoping for more analysis like this, but MLS FA starts Wed. Maybe we'll see the full list today or tomorrow. https://tacticsfreezone.substack.com/p/mls-roster-deadline-day-nine-out Edit: Doyle thinks this guy is the next guy to make the goal scoring leap when he gets a shot at MLS. https://www.transfermarkt.us/taylor-calheira/profil/spieler/1246384
That leaves Anthony Pulis and Mirza Harambasic as first team assistants. Will Pablo get to pick his assistants this time?
Curios to see if the club continues the trend of hiring the probable replacement shortly after extending the manager they should have parted ways with
Some light reading in prep for free agency, waivers and re-entry. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2025-mls-free-agency-eligible-player-list https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2025-mls-re-entry-draft-eligible-player-list https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/2025-mls-end-of-year-waivers-list https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-free-agency-tiers-top-players-available-for-2026 The Athletic also has a list of notable free agents. So, who should RSL be targeting?
The bio on Haak - a guy I’m not familiar with at all - reads exactly like what we need. Espinoza would be a good security piece to pick up assuming the club sells Luna after the World Cup
I'm not sure I'd do this if I was in charge, but if you want to make a statement and truly try to win at a high level next year (with or without Luna after the WC), you sell or buyout Goncalves, give Espinoza a 3 year DP deal, give Haak the longest max TAM deal you can and then try to figure out the rest (like moving on from Cruz who doesn't appear to have a spot other than a 4-4-2 type setup?). I don't know if it's a 4-2-3-1 with Gozo in the lineup or a 4-3-3 with someone like Ruiz in the midfield is the way to go if you do the above moves. Haak should be the highest priority and I lean towards midseason flexibility with the rest of the roster moves.

You had me at 6'0" midfielder. lol But looks like he is a CB but yes, I like it. Others that are interesting Robin Lod, Paul Rothrock, The only forward that has any interest for me is Kei Kamara. The guy is a warrior. No one else seems interesting or worth a spot. Corey Baird getting the boot again. Tate Shmitt as well.
I am not a fan of hoops. I’m a relatively fit guy and I look fat in em. Also weird to go from stripes to hoops. Reflects this clubs lack of identity pretty well, actually
