No matter when the new roster rules go into effect, we had plenty of room to do something head scratching like this (have to assume it was a stopgap move).
Both Crew and Crew 2 played 3atb, so he never really shined… I will say, as long as he is playing a no-nonsense role where he doesn’t have to invite pressure and he can just lay the ball off to a more creative player, he should be fine. He makes league minimum and has team options for his contract I think for the next two years so that should give the front office some leeway with regards to bringing him back.
If history is a judge he will come in, play a game or two, make the bench occasionally and then get loaned out to a USL side or something.
Watching Chicho play is such a joy. To think, a few years ago we went into a season with Douglas Martinez as out top choice forward. It's an absolutely different world.
Just think, in the secondary window RSL can buy down Crooks with their newfound GAM (move Gomez back to a U22 slot) and get another DP on Chicho's level.

And how do you not comment on Emeka Eneli when mentioning our DMs?!?!? He earlier commented on how unfortunate we were to lose Ruiz, so we had to shift away from the 4-4-2 because we couldn’t rely on those cross-field switches. True, but our league leading (tied) at 9 goals against has a whole hell of a lot due to Eneli filling that role amazingly well.
If you watch even 30 mins of an rsl game this year you see Eneli do things that are best DM in the league worthy. I’ll take it being quiet for now if they can lock him into another contract, but after that the noise needs to come

Awesome! Lots to unpack. Contracts ending this year: Brody*, Chang, Eneli*, Holt*, Julio*, Oviedo, Quinton*, Rubin*, M. Silva, Beavers*, Bonilla*, T. Gomez, Hidalgo, Jacquesson*, Orozco*, Paul*, T. Silva*, Pierre*, Farnsworth* *-Option for 2025 Surprising senior roster players: Eneli, Lambert, Quinton (There are currently 19, plus 2 on loan). I'm surprised there isn't a season ending status for Ruiz, opening another senior spot. Surprising off-roster players: Kei (Gozo is on the supplemental roster). Looks like there are 2 supplemental spots open, I would think they could move Eneli and probably Quinton if they bring in a starting level player in the secondary window. I wonder what they'll do with Rubin when his loan ends. I think they should be able to move A. Gomez back to a U22 spot in the secondary window, allowing them $2m more in GAM (per new roster rules). They can also buy down Crooks and bring in a high level DP. This roster should only get better, even if Luna leaves.
Larne FC just won the Northern Ireland championship and Orozco had a good year with them. He should be coming back from his loan.
Let's see what he does with the Monarchs first. It's not exactly high level soccer and Larne basically bought their way to the top.
