I note that over the last 2 seasons at Copenhagen half of his goals were PK’s. His assists numbers are very very low.
Might have to move Eneli or Quinton to the supplemental roster. I have no idea about international slots or the roster gymnastics with the supplemental roster. Looks like Rubin is on loan all year along with Lambert.
Recent run of form, leagues cup included: L 0-3 W 2-1 L 2-3 D 1-1 L 0-3 this team needs to really clamp down and focus these next 2+ weeks. Otherwise this will be a FCD type season where we compete for the midway SS just to scrape into the playoffs
I hate to say but I think that bombing out of the Leagues Cup might have been the best thing for RSL right now. It would be nice if they could start winning cups or at least competing more consistently for things like the Supporter Shield, US Open Cup, Leagues Cup and the FA cup. Why not? But, with all that has gone on the last month or so, having a couple weeks to reset and focus on a nice little 9 game run to end the season might be just what the doctor ordered. There are new players to evaluate and integrate into the system, there's that Chicho guy to get back to golden boot form, there's players maybe heading out before the next RSL game on August 24th so having a couple weeks to get the new guys acclimated and the team realigned with whomever is still at the club come that Saturday, might be rather advantageous. I think that with the way this team has chosen to play this season, and how the entire team has bought into the system, with the right players you could make a deep run. We will see if the new players brought into the team so far this transfer window, will have an impact. If they are plug and play for a Gomez or a Luna that have moved on, or maybe even addition by subtraction, then for sure the WC final is not out of the question. If the team can't find it's early season bearings and mojo then I will be sorely disappointed and surprised. Really, really, curious to see if a DP is brought in or if a couple players get shipped out. Of the two I think that Gomez is the more likely candidate to have a suitor but I doubt anyone is coughing up $15 million for him. Luna has had a very good season but seems to have disappeared a bit. I'm starting to grudgingly believe that Crooks and Luna might not be able to coexist. Maybe Crooks heads back across the pond? Who knows? I can't imagine the next couple weeks not being interesting.
So 4 new players in this window. Interview with Kurt makes it sound like he's in charge and no new GM is coming. Would be nice to have Spence or someone ask about these things. For example, guy on the OC show asked Jason about the Chicho suspension and Jason said we'll not hear anything more about it. Don't like it, but it's addressed and clearly answered.
A quibble: I'd call it directly answered, but there's no clear answer. I get your point though. By the way, a negative trait on Kreis in New York and Orlando was his loyalty to ex-players who were no longer worth the starting spot or even the roster spot. So far, Benji Michel is in that vein to me.
Agreed. The question is, what is the salary to dissapointment ratio? Or are we disappointed that he is taking up a roster spot?
1. I highly doubt we see a new GM within the next couple of years. I think the hiring of JK put that on indefinite hold. 2. Regarding Chicho’s suspension, the MLS policy approved by the player’s association is to announce the suspension and say nothing else. The teams aren’t going to provide additional detail about what caused the suspension. The only way we’re going to get details is if a knowledgeable person outside of the 2 organizations spills them.
What are the odds that RSL sells on a player before the end of the transfer window August 14? Gomez? Luna? I think if anyone goes it's Gomez.
Have to keep in mind what the other leagues' transfer window dates are. The 8/14 date is for players coming into leagues in the US (may be others countries with this closing date, I didn't check).
Ilajah Paul loaned to Ventura County, of the USL 2. Which is a long way down for a first team player, but so it goes.
The team social teased some announcement tomorrow. Just a ball sitting in a director's-style chair, so who knows.
Transfer windows are for incoming players. Pretty sure most leagues allow outbound players at almost any time. MLS is in their secondary (smaller, ~30 day) window. Most of the rest of the world are in their primary (~90 day) window.
Diogo is official! https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/real-salt-lake-acquire-diogo-goncalves-from-fc-copenhagen Edit: They are calling him an attacking mid and he's getting the #10. How long until he starts over Crooks?
Paint me a pessimist regarding Diogo (I hope I'm dead wrong). First, I don't think he's a natural 10 and prefers to play on the wing. Second, in his RSL hype video he seems underwhelmed with the size the stadium. I do happen to think he will be a major improvement in that attacking midfield position, but think he'll struggle with this club/league thinking he deserves better.
He seemed relatively humble though and his comments about wanting a quiet life off the field was encouraging. Still think he is more of a replacement for Luna when that happens. We'll see.
While Copenhagen has good crowds and a sizable stadium, the Danish Superliga averages fewer that 10k fans per game across the league. Only two stadiums in the league are bigger than ours. He can't be that disappointed with the RioT.
Parken Stadium in Copenhagen is beautiful and seats almost 40,000. I can see why he might be underwhelmed with his new digs. My guess is that he is here because of his ties to Chicho. Hopefully once he is eligible to play and gets into it the other factors won’t be on his mind. Once he’s eligible he almost certainly will quickly become the starter over Crooks.
