Form Guide starting with the game we lost at home to the Quakes: RSL: L - W - L - W - T - T - T = 9 points SJE: W - L - L - T - L - L - W = 7 points The Quakes easily have the Wooden Spoon - 21 points in 32 games, making the run they're on now their best form of the year. Six wins total. And here we go . . .
There has to be some kind of rotation for this one, right? Don't need any injuries even with the break next weekend.
I agree with most, but I think Diogo gets the start, maybe on the right. I don't like it, I don't think Diogo is helping the team much, but due to rotation, I think that's what happens. I'm not sure Quinton starts, he hasn't looked as good at CB and I don't think he'd start at RB due to needed rotation. I don't think Brody starts due to the demand of playing LB in this formation. I still like Hidalgo, I don't see what Brown has done to get those minutes. Is Silva even available? He wasn't on the bench Wednesday or against Austin. Oh, Chicho will start, maybe under Julio.
Kreis was on the Spence Checketts show yesterday and talked about Pablo's goal has been to get Chicho 90 minutes fit in time for the playoffs. As much as he's been struggling, I don't see Pablo rotating him out of the lineup if that is the goal.
If I’m an opposing coach I’m literally licking my lips at the vision of attacking our right side back line.
My guesss is: MacMath Brody, Glad, Quinton, Katranis Palacio, Ojeda Marczuk, Crooks, Luna Chicho Nothing surprises me anymore this season though with the lineups. I think Chicho will start because in the post game Pablo said that the way to get out of slump is to keep shooting so I expect him to start. With Brody getting the start at LB lately I can't see him not getting the start and Brown might be for emergency use only at the moment. Ojeda had the early sub so I could see Palacio getting the start and Eneli getting the break. Marczuk and Crooks seem to be creating a decent pairing as noted by Pablo after the game. Crooks, especially, seems to have won over Pablo with his work rate and intangibles so I can't see him not getting the nod. Diogo as been less effective than anticipated from what I can see him getting the start, maybe. We shall see.
Posting before the injury report. It looks like Chicho got a yellow, but he wasn't on warning. Crooks and Eneli were, but hopefully they aren't for the next one. Julio Luna Chicho Goncalves Ojeda Palacio Katranis Glad Hidalgo Quinton MacMath Bench: Beavers, Brody, Brown, Eneli, Caliskan, Crooks, Brook, Chang, Marczuk Subs: Marczuk for Goncalves (probably at the half), Crooks for Julio around the 60th, Eneli for one of the Dmids by the 70th, Brody for Quinton around the 60th, Brook for Luna in the last 10-15 minutes of the game.
As opposed to a gassed Brody and useless Diogo? Pablo rolled the dice hard on the first 2 games here. If he sticks with those same guys we’ll get ran over
Hidalgo wasn’t even in the gameday 20 against Minnesota. Was he suspended or is he injured? I don’t remember him playing in Austin either
I’m worried that Julio might end up being the real loser in this situation, unfortunately. Chicho is likely to play the full 90 to help him regain his form, which creates a crowded midfield with countless combinations. If Julio returns as a winger, I might just have to quit! Julio is by far are most dangerous attacker, but DP money for Chicho and Diogo seem to be breaking any positive chemistry.
He wasn't in either gameday roster. He was injured for a game recently, but I'm not sure if that was last weekend or the game before. I just don't think you can ask guys like Crooks, Quinton, Brody and maybe a few others to start and go anywhere close to 90 this weekend. I thought starting Hidalgo (at least he has played more recently than Silva) was the best way to do that. I guess you could start Brown at CB, but there's no chemistry. If you start Quinton at CB, you're expecting him to go 90.
Hidalgo has a knock. They said it wasn't serious when I dropped by practice a week or so ago so maybe he'll be ready for tomorrow?
Your post got me thinking, and maybe it’s time to rethink our approach. In '09, we won the MLS Cup through multiple penalty shootouts. Maybe our goal is to focus on ending regulation(s) in a draw before heading to PKs, our performance in the last three matches indicates we’re on the right track. I’m starting to regain optimism about our season! I can really envision us bringing the cup back to SLC—I mean Sandy! Quick, resign Rimando!
You almost had it. Goncalves is starting at AM and Marczuk at RW. Hidalgo is injured. Holt is the emergency CB. Otherwise the bench looks like the rest of the best.
I could not have been more wrong on the lineup. Not particularly convinced we get 3 points. Or a point for that matter. Hope I am as wrong about that as I was the lineup.
I'm not expecting a positive result. Only thing I'm hoping for is no injuries and no stupid red cards.
Predicting a 2-1 loss for RSL with goal from Julio off a Luna assist. Brown gets caught ball watching for 1 goal given up and Quinton loses his mark for the other.
Need to see Ojeda and Palacio dominate tonight. Not expecting much from Goncalves tonight. Hoping he can press and do some of the things that Crooks does well to help the attack.
