Had we won the West and these East results stayed the same, we would be hosting the Final.

Sucks that did not happen, but seeing Miami lose and eliminated runs a close second.

Yes unless he is open to a much bigger paycheck. But in the mean time I cannot be happier that Miami lost.

I don't think that the winter will be as quiet as Doyle thinks (he's right about the big pieces, barring a sale), but RSL will need to get their moves made quickly if they're going to integrate any new major contributors.

    Maybe????

We are very heavy at DM (Ojeda, Eneli, Ruiz, Palacio, and then other depth players), and we don't have speed on the LW, even on the bench.

RB is a big ???, but we have serviceable players to fill the gap, even if they aren't elite. (Hoping Brody can regain some of that form.)

I agree with @goobx1 that we either need a new CB, or we need a current player already signed to step up, to really push Glad & Vera for minutes, or at least be able to seamlessly rotate in to give those guys a rest. Holt and Silva were supposed to be those guys, but spent the whole season injured. Farnsworth was healthy pretty much all year, but played for the Monarchs and never made our bench. Lambert was loaned out, although I thought he did pretty well in the game we saw him.

Other than that, I think this team gets another formation rework to have Crooks, Diogo, Chicho, Marczuk and Luna on the field at once, with Anderson Julio super-sub. Diogo and Chicho need to figure their shit out.

Good read. I think he hit the nail on the head for a lot of it for RSL this season. That last 12 games were tough along with the leagues cup and the playoffs.

I think, maybe more hope, that RSL makes more changes than Doyle expects. Maybe not big changes but I would like to definitely see some roster freshening up if possible.

I don't know if I am sold on Diogo just yet. From what I see all I get is Jonny Menendez vibes. MLS and the more physical style of play doesn't seem a fit for him. But there is a lot a good offseason and preseason can do for player and a club.

For me I would like to see solid RB either emerge or be brought in especially if RSL is going to stick with Vera and Glad as their starting CB's.

    We shall see

Damn I had completely forgotten about Jony. That was a disappointing signing.

    Longer than we had hoped!

Also, we likely wont have to wait all the way until the 27th. I’d expect we’ll hear by this time next week. There’s no real reason to drag it out.

Sure there is. RSL has positions to upgrade. If you don't think you can get your preferred guys, you may have to pick up some options you weren't planning on. Plus there's the expansion draft. That charges your normal plans.

Anyone want to do their draft protection list? Teams release their list on 12/10 with the draft on 12/11. Won't be much time to analyze and critique.

Here's mine, but I've been waffling on a few:
    Glad
    Vera
    Quinton
    Katranis
    Eneli
    Ojeda
    Ruiz
    Crooks
    Marczuk
    Chicho
    Brook
    Julio

Notable Unprotected: MacMath, Brody, Brown, Goncalves, Palacio
Hardest to justify: MacMath, Palacio, Goncalves, Brown and Brody, in that order.

I think the U22/DP slot players are harder to justify taking from an expansion team view. MacMath would be their starting GK which would be a huge value.

I still say RSL should trade Glad (maybe Vera) or Palacio to SD for expansion protection.

Are we not required to protect a DP under contract? I thought Gonçalves has to be on the list.

Last year we were bounced from the playoffs on Saturday Nov. 11th,
and the team released its roster decisions on the Friday the 17th.
Roster decisions were due on the 22nd.
Thanksgiving was on the 23rd. I'm not going to track each year, but I think this is fairly customary.

Most teams take the whole week of Thanksgiving off to allow for travel and such, so it is kind of a dick move to hold everyone over the weekend and right up to Turkey Day if the team already has a good idea who is in and who is out. As we've seen, there are several teams that have already released their info, but have a few players that are listed as "still in contract negotiations." But everyone else has some clarity.

I expect the team to release something today about options being exercised or not.

I've long thought they would release the news on a Friday afternoon, but I thought they would have done it a week or two ago.

Yeah, I was expecting last Friday, but today seems more likely.

Interestingly, RSL aren’t close to the only holdouts. I’m not certain why the announcements are taking so long this year, unless it is just a rule change.
