The team is headed to the bubble today, let's hope this tournament actually ends up starting on Wed. Some skepticism with a handful of players testing positive, but at last count there were no verified cases contracted within the bubble, and the league seems optimistic that protocols will effectively deal with any cases. Also, in RSL related news for some reason DLH insistent on hosting a Monarchs match with 5K+ fans. That seems ill-advised. State health officials expecting another surge coming out of this holiday weekend that may push our hospitals into the danger zone for urgent care.
Also some real news: Kenny Cutler - I mean Nick Besler with the contract extension. (This comparison is probably on fair insofar as how the fanbase views Besler.)
The league did push back FCD's start to the tournament as they now have 10 players who've tested positive.
Thanks for posting this. Here's a good link for anybody else who wants to read up: https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...us-tests-vancouver-game-postponed/5375560002/ This thing is a powder keg. They tested negative before travel, and then positive after arriving, six at first, then four others. (9 players and a coach.) They've all been in close contact (obviously) so there's no reason to think the situation is contained. I'll be surprised/impressed if this tournament ends with no more Coronadrama.
Another great link: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/06/28/major-league-soccer-announces-covid-19-testing-update "During the period from July 3-4, 191 players, coaches, referees, club staff, league staff and other individuals were tested for COVID-19. Of that group, two individuals tested positive, both players. "Since June 28 a total of 14 positive tests have been reported in the MLS tournament delegation, 12 of which were players."
Nashville has also had 9 players test positive. Get the popcorn, this saga is going to be interesting. https://fox17.com/news/local/severa...wCy-age4AUsuTWMBbfW1m08oX7QWQZ7F8sZsCF_XFAvhE
Maybe I'm bored, but I thought this was an interesting glimpse into what it's like for the players inside the bubble:
https://www.rslsoapbox.com/2020/7/6...oha-did-not-travel-to-orlando-for-mls-is-back This is a bummer if true but understable I suppose.
I'm wondering how long until the whole tournament is scrapped. FC Dallas has withdrawn from the MIB, and Kristain jack is claiming Nashville is hot on their heels. 1280264155581370368 is not a valid tweet id Group B suddenly became easier to escape unless Group A is restructured to even out the teams. But then you lose the Conference separation created by the groups. This could get interesting.
This brings up the question of whether they are now forfeiting the points that other teams have an opportunity to earn in that first stage of the competition. Or will MLS make this more of a stand alone event since not all teams can participate.
I would be bummed if this tournament was cancelled. I have been soo ready to watch some MLS soccer. But with this country exploding Covid 19 numbers it would be hard to question such a decision.
this is EXACTLY what going to ODP camp looked like when I was a kid. Substitute the Disney nice setting with a school in the middle of nowhere Oregon
Commissioner Don indicated that they will try and make up the games at a later date for teams withdrawn from the tournament.
Both Rossi and Kreilach are in Orlando. I saw them in the "travel day" video posted to RSL's twitter.
If Nashville is out, the smart thing to do is move one of the Group A teams to Group B and that way all groups have 4 and move forward... until another team falls to CoVid.
This tournament is fun - and it is a great concept. Whether it works or not pandemic-wise we'll learn a lot, and that's better than the wishful thinking policy we've been living with. We need to learn to live with this more safely. It's doable. Germany, Korea, New Zealand Japan, they've done ok managing the diseased simply by being detailed and professional.
I saw someone wearing a Trump 2020 facemask today while I was getting a small repair on my car. The equivalent of a birth control pack with Hobby Lobby on it. Thank god I had a mask on myself because the fluctuation between laughing/smiling and then wanting to kill the guy was shown very much on my face.
