Hey all. I work for the front office of D.C. United and have been attempting to reach out to see who is planning on making the flight to DC for the away match here on March 9th. Merely 3 weeks out, it is our home opener and would like to begin getting an estimate on expected attendance. Please PM if you would like some info. Thanks, best of luck this year! -Rafi Moersen
There is a good chance that these RSL fans, myself, spouse and our 4 year old, will drive over from Cumberland, MD.
If we're going to sign Stephenson and/or Saunders, it's high time to hear some news - season starts for us in 12 days after all!
4-6 bordelais7's will also be driving/metro-ing in. Is there a "visitors' section" or should I just buy one of the ticket promo deals? Here at RFK the battle hymn's begun...
Section 318 has been set aside for RSL fans, here's a link to buy tickets in that section if you want https://oss.ticketmaster.com/html/go.htmI?l=EN&t=dcunited&o=160&g=2263 promo code is 'RSL'. 2 of us will be driving up from NC for the match.
So, is Olmes official yet? How 'bout Saunders? Any possible surprises yet to come before the season starts, or should I be slightly underwhelmed and realize that this is the team that's going to be fielded this season?
Olmes was official on Sat before the preseason game. The FO is hoping to lock in Saunders and Khari this week. Sandoval is also signed now.
Interesting piece on MLSSoccer.com - Unorthodox Deal for Plata Gives RSL Depth - has some insight into how that transpired and is worth your time in and of itself. It also has an interesting quote about the upcoming roster deadline, courtesy of Garth: "“March 1 is the deadline [for roster submission]. We have I’d say between two and five different things to decide on or move on before then,” he continued. “We probably aren’t done with everything yet. If something else pops up, we are always open to taking a look.” Two moves? Probably Saunders and Khari. Five moves? Yowza, who knows?
When it was announced it carried the stipulation "pending a physical examination and a contract signature".
Hopefully that's the sound and form and smell of allocation money burning a hole in Garth's pocket... Or maybe he was just glad to see Greg Lalas. I really like the Saunders option if it's not giving LA too much. Solid goal keepers are always good trade bait. Guys get hurt (hopefully not Nick).
This was in the main MLS News thread - and this link speaks well of RSL's effective use of budget/payroll. http://www.soccermetrics.net/football-business-analytics/front-office-efficiency-in-mls-2012-edition http://www.soccermetrics.net/football-business-analytics/revisiting-front-office-efficiency-in-mls I'll let the article speak for themselves.
It was on their twitter Saturday and they said it was possible he'd play that day but most likely we'd see him play Wed. They made it seem like it was a done deal.
The take-home message I'm getting from these is that his "front office efficiency gain" (which he describes in the 2nd article) has nothing to do with performance. There's no correlation between points and efficiency in the table below.
