Reading has finally and officially signed Jimmy Kebe through 2010. It may take a while for him to make an impact but he has good size and pace which is always a plus.

I am still hoping for one more signing to solidify the back line. There haven't been any other reliable rumors flying as of late so this may be it for transfers.

So which player is this guy going to push for minutes? He's right-footed but Nick Hammond says he's comfortable on both wings.

That's just it, he's a winger. Hunt's not getting pulled off the pitch anytime soon. We'll probably see more of Hunt on the left and Kebe on the right, so in other words we'll be seeing less of Convey.

Yeah, not the thing I want to hear regarding the local kid's playing time.

I can't believe that Convey will lose time right away to Kebe. Kebe has never played at this level and it will take some time for him to adjust. It may happen next season but I can't see Kebe breaking the starting lineup any time soon.

the problem for Convey is that he plays on the left, as does Hunt. Hunt isn't going to get dropped, so it comes down to who looks better on the right.

I'll be surprised to see Kebe get starting time in the next month - he needs some time to get settled, see how he fits in with the team, and get over the language barrier. But as I've said before, I think Oster will start pushing for starting time on the right and then Coppell will have to do the calculus of which wing pairing is better: Hunt/Oster or Convey/Hunt? Whoever starts delivering quality crosses on a consistent basis will get the nod, because we've been oddly lacking in that department this year.
