I think he's an ok announcer but what does this have to do with Chelsea? Are we linked with him now too since the Defoe transfer was shot down? Mod please move this.
Clanblue <-----bites tongue about 'new fan' comment I saw him play from the stands only the one time, i'll be nice too him and just say it only sticks out in my mind for his...er...'non impact' on the game. Actually when we got him he was supposd to give us what we now have with Robben and Duff. We tried to have him on the left and that fantastic little man from Scotland on the right putting in nice crossed for a certain Chelsea legend that now commentates for BigBlue. If i remember right we let him go for a pittance, then he was sold for over a million quid! Now, in todays game that might make you laugh, but back in the 80's that was serious money. What did i think of him. Not much really, but then again, he was in a team that had a horrible run of form and we gave credit to the pundits that said that there's no such thing as too good to go down.
As you know Clan, I'm no "new" fan...more like semi-new. I'm pre-Abramovich but still relatively new compared to old guys like yourself. 1986-1988 is definetly well before my time. I was only 8-10 years old then. I can barely remember the Eagles players from then, let alone a player for a team of a sport which I didn't follow at the time. My bad. This would be an opportune time to keep quiet and read.
I'm chill. Just should have known better. I know you didn't mean anything. ********** all knew about Wegerle was that he played for the US and was South African.
Who was the first for Chelsea or for any English team for that matter. I've been trying to find it on the web but unsuccessfully. There's a good article on sams-army.com on that kid from a conference team that scored a hat trick in the FA Cup.
Thats a very good question there Eddie. Don't have a clue who the first player in England was, if i ever did know i've forgot. Can't be sure of the years just before and after the war but, i think the great Peter Osgood was our first player to have played for a club side in the states and later Chels. He played for some club in Philly before coming back for a second time to us.
So whats the deal io with the mag? Is it in all Barnes and Noble stores? There's a massive one just down the mountain from me in the City of Wilkes-Barre, would they be likely too have it?
