Before we start pulling numbers out of our asses, anyone have any word on how ticket sales are doing in DC, and Kansas City?
haven't you heard , KC giving away the tickets at $ 5 for this one, and credit for those who already have them purchased , they will be pushing this to get as many people behind the team as they can and why not the stadium holds 70+ ...it will be interesting to see what the respons gona be

I know I'll be there, and at $5 a ticket I can talk a lot of my friends into going. But I also know that on a Friday night during football season, KC will be LUCKY to top 10k even with a $5 ticket promotion. Im thinking would predict anywhere from 9-11k. I REALLY HOPE the Wizards prove me wrong.
Unless the KC Star really starts pushing it, I don't see how the Wizards get to 10k on a Friday night. Saturday, yes. Friday, no. Hopefully the KC print and broadcast media will help out this weekend.
Nice promo idea. All it does, however, is underline the need for right-sized stadia around the league.
It's not "that bad wow". It is what it is. Have some perspective. Friday night playoff games don't draw in MLS. We're not a "major league" when it comes to media attention, and there are no group sales - the bread and butter of attendance - during the postseason.
No, it doesn't. Post season attendance has nothing to do with seat inventory scarcity and everything to do with media hype.
That and a few folks in front offices who can put together a decent plan for selling playoff tickets.
The charges that Ticketmaster will tack on will be more than the cost of the ticket. Why is it that the only places to get tickets are TM and Arrowhead? Do they not sell them at participating grocery stores or anything else?
Was a $20 dollar price tag really going to stop many people that want to go from going. Nah... They might get a couple thousand extra people to check it out though. KC 13,500 In DC, it's not just about putting warm bodies in the seats like it is in most cities. They have a real nice core of real fan support. All cities should be as lucky. DC 17,000...
I REALLY hope KC's "promotion" works and they break 10K Judging by last weeks ANNOUNCED attendance at RFK, if we hit an ANNOUCNED attendance of 17K at RFK, itll probably ACTUALLY be 21-22K.
so what's one good reason why KC is playing on a friday nite? the chiefs are away that weekend ... what's going on saturday nite in arrowhead? why not sunday?
Kind of an unfounded blanket statement. While the data is limited (especially lately), I don't think that it supports your conclusion. fri, 14 nov 03 - 14610 - average 13777 2000 playoffs - 1st round - average 9066 fri, 15 nov 00 - 14868 - best 1st round attendance that year - 64% > average fri, 15 sep 00 - 10476 there were three friday games in the second round in 00 and while none of them was as good as the single saturday game, the saturday game was outstripped (by about a third) by the tuesday game (which might cause some people to say that they shouldn't have matches on saturday since they don't draw as well as tuesday)
College football saturday at the 'Head. Sunday would likely be even worse than a friday night in terms of attendence.
I felt the same way you did until I learned that it was actually a legit number. Since there were no season ticket sales to include in the total, which is done during the regular season, what you saw in the stadium was what was actully sold. Regardless, nearly 16,000 in the lower bowl of RFK pretty much puts just about any total at other MLS stadiums to shame in terms of atmosphere. Given that Saturday night's game won't be in competition with Halloween parties like last week, I think it's safe to say DC will draw a couple thousand more this week.
