I was looking around (amazon, movies.com) and couldn't find an official release date for the Extended version of Return of the King. I've got my theatrical release DVD already but I was wondering if anyone's heard of the release date (?November?), or how much longer it'll be (I've heard 4.5 hours plus)? Oh, and a quick review, the special features on the DVD disappointed me if only because the two main documentaries shared so much footage it wasn't necessary to produce both of them. The movie, of course, is spectacular, but you already knew that.
Expected just before Christmas this year. http://www.theonering.net/features/interviews/mattlasorsa.html
A yahoo search revealed this. "Director Peter Jackson just edited the four-hour, 10-minute longer cut, due in November. The theatrical version will arrive in May or June." It looks like we are looking at another November release of an extended LOTR DVD, just in time for christmas.
Also, I haven't bought one of the movies on DVD yet because I'm waiting for the extended edition trilogy, that bundles all of the "longer" viersions together. Hopefully they will sell that puppy at Xmas too. I did see the normal trilogy for sale for $ 64, so I'm guessing the EE version will be $ 89- $ 100.
