One shot on target, one goal, 3 pts. I'm not going to kid myself that that was anything but lucky and undeserved but it feels good to win for a change.
So it turns out our goal was a mishit cross that flew over the keeper and into the far corner, Boro fans must be seething. Bramall's high IQ shot on target #rufc pic.twitter.com/nEB5Kqbg25— Hancok 🇪🇪 (@San_Pers) December 26, 2023
Sounds like a cracker, though, in German. And it was a nice ball that played him through ... so credit to Rotherham. Three points well earned.
1-1 at home versus Sunderland, they scored a lucky goal by the sound of it. 4pts from 6 isn't bad though. Much better performance last night but a worse result, will have to see how we do in away games. I think someone said we'll need to show top 10 form between now and the end of the season in order to stay up so it's unlikely anyhow.
How do you feel about the third tier, Myshoe? I hope this doesn't come off condescending, but back in the late 90s/early 00s, when Spurs never played for anything after February, I always thought supporting a yo-yo club would be good fun ... always fighting to stay up or go up ... never a dull Spring. And I always suspected that if I were, I'd probably enjoy the lower division more (even if I'd never say it). To be fair, I might not think it were I to actually experience it. Anyway - and i know you dont want relegated - does fighting in League 1 next year (where you're sure to land more punches) have any appeal?
I'd much rather us be surrounded by the glamour of the Championship but we are a League One club at heart so being in the Championship is always just a bonus, for us it's not like with big clubs like Sheffield Wednesday where they're embarrassed to be in League One and want to get out ASAP. There'll probably come a time when we stop yo-yo'ing though and I fear it may be soon but it will depend on summer transfers as we'll have to recycle half the squad again, even though we can't make it in the Championship the last 8 or so seasons of us bouncing up and down has been incredibly successful really.
Another pathetic performance with no shots on target again, like I said we've become start-of-season Wednesday. There's no hope for us, even if we can afford to bring in players they need to have plenty of fighting spirit for next season in League One.
No sign of any signings. we probably broke the bank to bring Ayala in so that he could get repeatedly sent off.
We made 3 last minute loan signings and Georgie Kelly was sold to Carlisle, watch him score for fun for them.
It's getting hard to see a way out now, isn't it? Hosting Soton and away to Leeds ... it's not difficult to envision you still on 19 points after 30 games. There's a whole slew of teams on 33/34, and it won't take more than a win for each to make themselves, in all likelihood, out of reach. If you're to stay up, it'll probably be Wednesday, QPR, and 'udders that you'll have to pass. A draw between Wednesday and Huddersfield tomorrow would do you good. Or even a Wednesday win. But it won't take much for Huddersfield to get out of reach for Rotherham. Never give up, and all that, but it doesn't look good. Fingers crossed you get something from the next two.
Most of our fans have accepted we're down at this point bar some miraculous turnaround in form, it's not just where we find ourselves in the table but that we don't even look scoring now. We actually started the season much better but got shafted heavily by refereeing decisions which they later apologised for and then injuries kicked in. The problem is we can't even start rebuilding for League One next season until the season long signings (presumably our highest earners) leave in the summer.
Rough 5 minutes, there, in the second half. Looking at the numbers, it'd be hard to say Hull didn't deserve it; but it's always rough losing from a winning position.
It's the story of our season, if we could hold onto a lead we'd probably be mid-table or even pushing for playoffs. It sounds like some fans are already turning on Liam Richardson due to his "boring" brand of football, one fan even said that his mate thinks he's deliberately trying to get the sack after seeing the state the club is in lol. I don't think we'll be back in the Championship for a while.
Another L. Can't see getting anything at Ipswich on Tuesday, either. At QPR and home to Wednesday will be opportunities, but it's probably already too late, isn't it? No trouble seeing you get something off Wednesday, though.
Yeah we're down, we'd probably have to be in playoff form to the end of the season to survive now and that's not going to happen. I don't think we'll beat Wednesday as we don't score but all the fans want is for the players to play like they care, unlike in the reverse fixture.
Sounds like a cracking match at Portman Road, from a neutral's viewpoint, at least. At least they made a fist of it.
It sounds like we had a really good second half, fought back from 3-1 down to make it 3-3 on 94mins and then conceded 90+6, tragic defending.
Thinking about it I wouldn't be surprised if the Ipswich players were told to just take it easy at half-time, 3-1 up against a team with our attacking prowess you wouldn't blame them for getting the deck chairs out and with an eye on the weekend fixture.
Yeah, I was thinking that. At 3-1, you'd've thought it'd only get worse, and that they got back in it was impressive. And I guess it is, but after a second or two it occurred to me that they'd probably taken their foot off the gas a bit.
The fans are generally calling for Liam Richardson to be sacked after today. We are a lot more negative under him (particularly at home) but it's the same situation as under Matt Taylor, some players are injured and some others couldn't care less because they only signed a one year contract. We sold players like Barlaser and Wiles but didn't replace them with the same quality. Any new manager coming in was doomed to failure this season.
A lot of our fans reckon we'll break our record for lowest ever points total in the Championship, so they don't think we'll pick up another 4pts in the remaining games. The club is in such a mess we'll do well to be top half next season.
Sometimes it's hard to see where another point's gonna come from. But they usually turn up somewhere. Some teams will turn in some utterly abject performances once their fates have been determined. Unfortunately there are few anywhere near knowing. Basically just you and Leicester.
Can we please go back to the start of the season when Wednesday were the laughing stock? The fans are calling for Liam Richardson to be sacked but he was probably the best manager we could afford/attract, unless we take a risk on a lower league manager we won't get any better. I think sacking Taylor has just compounded our problems and we're now a mess on and off the field.
