McClaren has been appointed "Head of Football", rumours are now saying he's after Ian Burchnall who was his assistant with Jamaica.
It looks like Millmoor might be getting demolished. https://www.rotherhamadvertiser.co....-rotherhams-abandoned-millmoor-ground-8638361
The owners of the land (Booth's) went into administration earlier in the year and were taken over by a local rival (Ron Hull). From what is being reported though there is some kind of protective order on the land preventing it from being used for anything except sports.
Still no manager... we have about half a squad so not sure why there is so little urgency. Perhaps the takeover is still in progress behind the scenes. Who knows?
We supposedly couldn't agree terms with Burchnall. Right about now McClaren is probably realising that money will be a stumbling block to all of his ambitions and is probably considering doing a Kenny Jackett and leaving? It's either that or he'll just say **** it and end up being a combined DoF/Manager.
Richard Wood to inherit the managerial position (as no one else wants it)? Apparently Matt Sadler and Ian Birchnall have both turned down the job after discussions over budget. Players have begun returning but have no idea who the manager will be. McClaren is on holiday and the chief physio has walked out. All chaos, it seems, save for Richard Wood, who is taking training until the gears begin to mesh again (if they ever do). I like Wood, me. Proper Yorkshire lad.
The club put out a statement yesterday to try to quell growing concerns, they're supposedly working really hard to find players but unlike other clubs haven't actually signed any. The players will be back in training shortly but as things stand we're in a worse position in terms of playing staff than Wednesday were start of last season.
Alex Bruce has been appointed. https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2026/june/29/bruce-appointed-as-head-coach/ Now hopefully about half a squads worth of players.
Steve Agnew appointed as assistant head coach. https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2026/july/02/agnew-arrives-as-assistant-head-coach/ I'm not sure where this leaves Richard Wood as his role has been first team coach, how many coaches do we need let alone can afford?!
