I don't think many will have expected us to get anything against an in form West Brom but by the sound of it we were dog **** again. It's not looking good is it...
Saw the result earlier ... it's tough to be encouraged, isn't it? I mean, I know nothing of it save the result, so maybe they played well ... game of moments ... chances taken/not taken ... scoreline doesn't represent, etc. ... but yeah ... not looking good.
We had 1 shot on target. We're failing at both ends of the pitch. The first few games we had one of the best defensive records in the division at least.
We were rather lucky to win the reverse fixture earlier in the season, scored an early goal with our only shot on target (a cross/semi shot to the far post iirc) and then defended for 85mins and Stoke had absolutely no end product. I'll happily take the same again though. Merry Christmas guys.
2-1 last I saw ... couldn't have been much before the 80th minute. Disappointing to see the result in the end. No idea of anything but the scoreline, but it's gotta be two points dropped, eh? Frustrations continue.
Losing 1-0 at half time. It's starting to feel like past seasons at this level now, just one disappointment after another. These players should be doing better though, we saw proof of that early season. I'm not seeing Matt Taylor keeping us up.
Down 1-0 at the half. Where's Georgie Kelly, Myshoe? He's been coming off the bench of late, but now he's not even in the team. Has he fallen off that much?
He tore his hamstring a month or so ago and now has torn his calf, should hopefully be back in late January.
Fans who attended are saying the players didn't turn up again, some even speculating that our better players down-tooled as to avoid injury ahead of the transfer window. Matt Taylor was complaining post-match that our players aren't fit enough, except Paul Warne was an exceptional fitness coach and they ran their socks off for him. The World Cup was supposed to offer us a window to recuperate and get injured players back, the squad went on a training holiday to Cyprus and we seem to have gone backwards.
Matt Taylor has told reporters that he wants to sign 6 players in January, who does he think we are Sheffield Wednesday!? We'll be lucky and probably in the red if we can sign 2 Championship quality players.
Lost 3-0, I don't know what to say we've turned into the team that got relegated on record low points a few seasons ago. Warne got us promoted and up to 8th playing a high tempo, pressing style and it seems like Taylor wants us to stand off players and give the opposition more freedom to play like other Championship teams who have much more quality than us. I think Warne was good at getting the best out what he had, whereas Taylor is an ideologue and results are secondary to him - not helped recently by injuries in fairness to him. In summary we look screwed.
I can't see Taylor being sacked but at the same time I doubt he'll get anywhere near the 6 players he wants, we're far more likely to be even weaker come February.
The wheels are well and truly off. If there's a solution, I'm way too far removed to even guess at it.
If you know any billionaires pooks tell them to buy us quickly and get some players in. Our chairman won't jeopardise the club by gambling on staying up and rightly so but that likely means we're doomed to failure once again. Our only hope is we get injured players back soon, don't lose any quality players in the transfer window and hopefully Taylor will see that we need to disrupt opposing teams instead of giving them time to push us back and play intricate passes to their strikers.
4 out of 5 of our players have been offered new contracts but are holding out (for other clubs no doubt). According to Taylor the players we're looking to sign are either free agents or loanees, so I assume they will sign at the 11th hour and likewise with our own players only if nothing better comes along. There's nothing says staying in the Championship like feeding off scraps.
