More rumors swirling (no confirmations from Rueter yet) Benedetti still looking like a possibility and John Lucumí (Colombian defender at Genk). No fricking idea who gets traded (or loan gets cut short) to free up the international spots? Owundi? Maximiano? Can't wait until we can fully transfer J. Venegas off the books. If this is all true....it says to me, McGuire was pissed (which we know he has been) and told Manny to pull the trigger on some big signings, as this has to be one of the weirdest/worst team builds ever.
From Rueter's mailbag on Benedetti. https://theathletic.com/429758/2018...icolas-benedetti-rumors-and-reasons-for-hope/ However, sources have told The Athletic that it’s highly unlikely that he joins Minnesota this summer, though they wouldn’t rule out a winter deal. This won’t be a popular opinion with many of you, but Benedetti really isn’t a piece that Minnesota needs anymore. He’s not a pacey player, and is more of a throwback No. 10 who relies more on precision passing and impressive finishing than any form of athleticism.
This is starting to sound an awful lot like "There will be a MertoStars stadium announcement in the next 60-90 days..."
I actually understand the Benedetti one. I think Cali kind of blew it with his future sale....at least with us.

Currently listening to "Town Hall" Meeting Lagos said Ibarra is currently at the U.S. embassy in Ecuador hoping to get his visa and travel tonight. #MNUFC— Megan Ryan (@theothermegryan) July 13, 2018
On Angelo Rodriguez being a Designated Player for #MNUFC, sounds like there’s a distinct possibility his contract is bought down with Target Allocation Money for year two of his deal. Don’t know how much, but it would mean Loons open up one of three high-priced DP slots.— Andy Greder (@andygreder) July 13, 2018 Smart to make him a DP. Half-season budget charge is only $250k. Saves cap space and TAM. Good cap management. https://t.co/PMioGhQPe3— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) July 13, 2018
We may fault Manny and his minions for some of the players he's brought in, but there is no denying he's learned the TAM / GAM game extremely well.
We might be figuring out this whole roster thing just in time for the new season. I feel some hope coming.
One problem (enough international slots) partially solved... https://www.mnufc.com/post/2018/07/13/jerome-thiesson-receives-green-card
New #MNUFC winger Romario Ibarra will wear No. 11 and back of shirt will read "Romario," so there'll be no "R. Ibarra" or "M. Ibarra" with Miguel.— Andy Greder (@andygreder) July 17, 2018
We all know Minnesota United are searching for a No. 6. Last week, they made a play for one of the league's best. Who? Find out... in my latest video. pic.twitter.com/7fTWzRWFiW— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) July 18, 2018 Looks like they made an approach for Dax.
With the long rain delay for last night's DCU - NYRB match, I got to watch more of the Red Bulls studio show than I wanted... Some fellow (not Cangilosi or Messing) insisted several times that Christian Ramirez was about to be moved "within the next 3-4 weeks". Shep Messing made it very clear he doesn't like Ramirez very much, btw. "Lazy" was one of the nicer things he said.
Sounds like Shep. *ugh. That's just lazy journalism. Any self respecting journalist would know that he was injured/playing injured for the first 7-8 games. Two....for all those pre DQ games, he was being double teamed. We had no one to take off the pressure. Man, we are lucky with our TV crew. Now, CR could be off loaded if Rodriguez turns good, but probably more importantly, it brings us in a #6 or another quality CB.......And as a possibility, the team buying ALSO gives us a international spot. Speaking of, we need a international spot open for Rodriguez to play. So, I wouldn't be surprised if one of our Cameroonians, or Gomez is let go soon
Concerning Benedetti rumors, there is still NO offer by MNUFC this window. Which, I am glad by the way. With Darwin, this is not a necessary, let alone offering a DP spot.
Sources telling me #MNUFC are listening to offers for Christian Ramirez, but nothing close to imminent. It's believed FC Dallas were interested before acquiring Dom Badji; #RSL and #SportingKC also making inquiries. The transfer window closes on August 8.— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) July 29, 2018
About time we get him out on a loan. INBOX: Carter Manley is heading to Las Vegas Lights on loan. #MNUFC can recall the rookie right back if needed. pic.twitter.com/F3gGFR9qAZ— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) July 31, 2018
