Nice to see Lewis & Vanney back. I really wonder if Reyna will actually play.

    Who would you take instead?

Eskandarian is a bigger wasted spot.

Totally wasted. It's a good thing CJ Brown, Brian Ching and Alecko Eskandarian are there to make up for the hopeless blunder of including someone with Kirovski's pathetic resume.

I'm hardly Jovan's biggest fan, but he belongs there at least as much as half the guys on that roster -- especially under the circumstances.

Dave you are right, but at least with Ching and Esky it is their first chance for a cap. Kirovski has just blown it so many times, i'm sure there are a few other Euro based players that deserve more of a chance. I'd like to see Connor Casey at forward rather than Jovan and also call in Cory Gibbs as well.

Pretty sure Corrales has been capped ... to think, people were complaining about the quality of players sent by Wales!

Has Taylor Twellman pissed Bruce off? I notice he hasn't been in the past few call ups ... with the absence of McBride for this Wales friendly you'd think that Bruce would use Twellman as a target man upfront.

    Anyone got any info?

CJ Brown. Why is he the only non-DC/Quakes/Euro player on the squad?
Also, disappointed that Conor Casey is not given a look.

I wouldn't read much into Twellman's absence from this roster. Except for Brown, all of the MLS players are from San Jose and DC who are off this weekend.

    Can you say Farewell

This looks so bad, it looks more like a farewell tour than a legitimate roster. Olsen, Kirovski, Mulrooney, Petke, and Agoo's farewell tour begins.

I would hope that everybody doens't expect to see these guys for WC06. What is he thinking, giving everybody a rest for their clubs? I'm not sure if I will even watch this game.

Brown got red carded in his game last week so he couldn't play for the Fire anyway. I believe there is still 3 games left in the Bundesliga season- so the German based players weren't really available.

Eskandarian? If you want a DC forward Ill take Quaranta every time. Why not a guy who actually looks like a ROY candidate in Todd Dunivant, who has more goals than this guy. If you want a DC forward Ill take Quaranta every time. I have no clue what he was thinking with this one.

Huh? how on earth do you factor Mulrooney into being on his way out? He has been called into pretty much every camp this year.

    One game left actually.

He has been several years ago.

    Midwest, the real one.
Re: Re: Can you say Farewell

I think Quaranta is nursing and abdominal strain or something.

I've got to agree with you. I cannot understand the inclusion of Reyna. He's not expected to see action, but he's included? What's the deal. Also, Eskandarian has much to prove before he should be called up. I love Agoos, but will someone please tell him to hang up his international boots please?

I'm interested to see Vanney after his spell in France, hopefully has done him some good. I love the call-up of Ching, he's been great this season for MLS. Probably Olsen's last real shot at the international level to prove himself fit.

No Martino???? I am dying to see him in the midfield linking with Landon and Convey.

I don't know much about Corrales, little help anyone?

Last question, and there must be a logical answer, where's Run-DMB? Is there an MLS fixture conflict with this game?

He's only using players who had an off weekend. That's why no DMB, no Martino (still injured?), etc.

Olsen's last chance? get real. he's only been in what, 3 or 4 matches since last summer? and those his first back after a while. he'll be around for years, even if he doesn't play spectacularly next week.

NO MLS PLAYERS WITH GAMES THIS WEEKEND WERE CALLED IN.

CJ Brown got two yellows on Saturday and is suspended for the Fire's match; thus, he had nothing better to do.

Anyone who would like to continue banging the drum that Jovan should not be on the national team should be forced to spell his name correctly: Kirovski.

Reyna has been hurt all season and wanted time to train. A first-team national team player and a guy who's effectively the current captain WANTS to be in training for a meaningless friendly, and has no club conflicts, and doesn't necessarily even want to take playing time from players getting perhaps a first or last look with the Nats? Boy, sounds terrible. I'm sure he'll just make everything worse.

I love the comment about the Petke going-away tour. If you've only played one game previously, having a one-game going-away tour seems a bit excessive.

Apparently most people have forgotten that Bruce is using these friendlies to look at as many players as possible. He is being smart about who he calls in based on their club schedules. This game means nothing.

As for Kirovski, he's still the 4th or 5th best forward the US has and is only 26 or 27. He's not ever going to be a player the team is built around, but he's far more talented any almost any forward in the MLS.

And that's not to mention that he's having a pretty good season.

Glad to see Brown getting another shot since he's still relatively young and is miles better than Califf. He's kinda gone into the dog house for taking down lopez in the box 4 a penalty that Keller blocked to preserve a 1:0 win. He may not be the quickest vertically, but he is as good as anyone else at 1v1 man marking and organizing the back.

Suarez looks out of sorts w/ the Burn in the middle, but he's also serving a 1-game ban & has earned a look see 4 the nats.

as far as Casey & Gibbs, the BL is still playing right?

ps Kirovski, when dressed, slides into the middle for Birmingham & he's done the same 4 the US. He's too pedestrian to play on the flanks and is trepid on D. He's neither a good target nor a leaning poacher up front, but he plays well in the slot. Why not let him compete for the attacking central middie spot?

I hope Convey is put in the same position he was playing against Mexico where he was a center mid, who went forward too much to be a holding mid, but was by no means an attacking mid.
