I wonder if because they missed so bad, and paid so much for Ponce, that they are no longer given permission to do another type deal or are afraid to. Either way, both Pat and Asher have to be on the hot seat with Ben not comfortable either. We are sliding towards ANOTHER complete redo of the team.
https://s3.amazonaws.com/mlspa/Spring-2026-MLSPA-Salary-Guide.pdf Salary guide out. HH on $568k a year. Sam Vines somehow makes as much as Jack McGlynn (however someone else has stated that Colorado is picking up the salary for him).
PA Base Salary CY Guaranteed Comp (PA) Ezequiel Ponce Houston Dynamo Center Forward $2,738,012.00 $3,000,212.00 His trash ass is straight up stealing money. If I ever hired an employee with such a crazy pay to performance delta I would've been escorted to my car & never allowed back.
File this in the "no shit sherlock" file. Pat's gonna have to find some one that actually produces if he want's to keep his job. Lewandowski would look good in orange. Just saying
I think it's odd that the people killing Pat for Ponce give him absolutely no credit for Guillherme, who's a stud. Bogusz has a little something too. So does Ennali.
The highest paid player on the Dynamo is a striker with 0 g/a, yea people should be killing Pat for that. The 2nd highest paid player should also be contributing more than “a little something”.
I don't know who these people are. I haven't seen anyone not giving Pat credit for getting Guillherme or who hasn't praised him for his play. He is almost everything that Ponce isn't & is exactly the type of player that this team needs. I personally have been effusive of Guillherme almost every game & credit Pat (and Asher) for bringing him in. also Ponce is trash and a bust and is a huge albatross around Pat's neck. There has never been a player in this teams history that has such a terrible pay to performance difference. Ponce is the worst signing ever for us based on that metric and it's not even close. Two things can be true at once.
Friday, Jun 5, 2026, 10:06 AM HOUSTON (June 5, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC have recalled Homegrown goalkeeper Logan Erb from his loan to Corpus Christi FC, both Clubs announced today. As part of the original loan agreement, the Dynamo retained the right to recall the Humble, Texas native at any time. The rookie shot stopper recorded three appearances with the USL League One club, including a start in Group 3 of the USL Cup versus USL Championship side FC Tulsa. In December 2025, Erb became the 18th Dynamo Academy product to sign as a Homegrown Player with the first team after joining the Club at the age of 13. As an old coach from our GHA, I have witnessed a consistent in our soccer culture in that we produce a good amount of solid goalkeepers, larger or small, quick off the line or just a quick reflex machine, our area churns them out across all types of backgrounds. Glad to see this young man get recalled to the mother ship! Go get 'em son!!!
We appear to be surfeit in goal keepers. The young Gillingham sure looked promising last year. (Was it last year?) We have some kid on Dos that I keep reading is considered a real gem. I guess name is Cruz. So I'm guessing this move is because they have a better place to put him where he will get more minutes. I'm just wild a*** guessing though.
Reports are that "Welcome Luwendowski" billboards are going up in Chicago and he is on the way to visit there.
Yeah, that pretty much has been a done deal for a while. Now talks are Chicago is pursuing Leon Goretzka as well. Adding these two to Cuypers will make them quite the force. The league is quickly getting down to around 10 teams that don't have an elite level player on their team. We unfortunately are one of them
Yep. Raising the question of whether you can compete without one and how do the Dynamo ownership respond to the evolution of the league. Last season Vancouver was showing us it could be done then they went and grabbed Muller. This season, Nashville is the anti-Miami and are making the case it does not take a top level player to compete. One could argue that Muhktar and Espinosa are pretty damn top -- but neither came to MLS with any pedigree. Both have flourished in MLS. So I can see both sides of that argument. Guillerme is analogous to Muhktar in my book. Do you put Nashville in that category of 10 teams without an elite level player? What about San Jose?
I would put Nashville in the category of a team that DOES have elite level players. It doesn't matter in my mind where they came from just that they are playing at (or near) the highest level and for a length of time that can show it's not a flash or beginners luck. Guilherme is currently playing at elite level but I can't quite call him an elite player just yet. Need to see it over a longer period of time--but he is indeed on his way. San Jose has Timo Werner who is killing it during his appearances so they for sure have an elite player in him. I think you can make an argument for Chico being up there as well.
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/74...hared_gift_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta Article says Dynamo are trading for Duncan McGuire from Orlando. Guy had shoulder surgery a month ago. Out of favor with Orlando. The numbers, to me, are crazy.
You are right as two sets of numbers seem crazy! What we gave to get this guy and his actual performance numbers. I'm guessing (hoping) this means we are moving El Busto and that will free up additional money to offset this move but I'll believe it when I see it. After all this time to find someone this is what they came up with.......ugh
"Excited to add Duncan to our frontline. Great profile fit for the evolution of our playing style this season. Joins club on a TAM deal. Payment schedule of acquisition fee reduces cap impact, so we can keep adding to the squad over the next 12 months." From Asher PS= "evolution of our playing style" means that we still don't have a fixed plan on how to play because Ponce is so terrible that it blew up every plan we had. We have to start over..errr..evolve up front. Again
At least it’s just the funny money being spent. Also based on what they posted on IG he’s practicing normally. Hopefully we see him tomorrow night.
Note: I was wrong about him being injured. When I looked at his most recent news it said shoulder surgery on June 6. I failed to notice that the most recent news for him on MLSsoccer.com was 2025.
